Hard to believe there is really a market for a $100K lens.

Then there's always this beast as well:

$99,000 ha! yea I don't think that lens is even remotely worth that price.

what about the smc PENTAX-A* 1:8 1200mm ED(IF)? that is a big mother of a lens, or if you want to go even further smc PENTAX REFLEX 1:13.5 2000mm. add a K T6-2X teleconverter to that and you far surpass the length of that cannon beast, though granted finding one of these lenses would be a once in a lifetime thing I imagine.

wow you're tiny!

actualy me and my co-worker were talking... i think operating these lenses is ridiculous, how would a normal person lug around a minium 200 kilo lens, you would need a whole team just to set up for a "shot"

This says it all, Re: the Canon 1200mm f5.6

"As for image quality, even wide open it's quite lovely. Stopped down to f/8 and f/11 it's actually quite remarkable. How remarkable? From midtown Manhattan we were able to read the street signs on the corner of JFK Boulevard East and 43rd St. in Weehawkin New Jersey when viewing image files at pixel resolution. It's important to keep in mind when you are shooting images of objects literally a mile away or further you start contending with haze, smog, and heat radiation that can greatly diminish the image quality of the best optics, especially during warmer months. Even on a cold, clear winter day we were able to detect heat distortions in some of the photos."

I'd jump ship if that lens came with the deal :P

I was thinking as I was reading the article and looking at the photo...You would have thought they would have taken a better pic...One with out the sky blown out and the edges seem real soft...Maybe it's my monitor or maybe the picture was taken with a canon

I'm suddenly thinking that Sigma should send me one of those to test.
I wouldn't mind sharing the pic's with you folks, and see if there's enough demand to make them in a Pentax mount.
