Thanks for the heads-up. I'll probably load it, but it's not much of an update, just adding new gear that I don't own.

Main changes since version 4.35
•Heterogeneous response to K-5II/K-5IIs
•Add the lens name data
"smc PENTAX-DA 50mmF1.8"
"smc PENTAX-DA 18-270mmF3.5-6.3ED SDM"
HD PENTAX-DA 560mmF5.6ED AW
HD Pentax-d FA645 MACRO 90mmF2.8ED AW GSR

That happened in previous versions too. I gave up saving TIFFs on PDCU long ago.

How does one file a bug report with Pentax about these things? Anyone know?

I thought Vladimir meant "crushed" in a good way, as in handled it easily.

Well, I guess now I will have to actually download PDCU 4.40 on my Win7 (64bit) PC and see if crushes or crashes on 16 bit TIFF exports.

Hopefully it crushes. But I think crashes is more likely.

I actually like PDCU but have learnt to simply avoid doing TIFF exports.

LOL! Yeah, probably crash. I don't think Pentax software supports 64 bit.

Well, I just downloaded and installed PDCU 4.40 on my Win 7 (64) PC, and I am pleased (and surprised) to say that 16 bit TIFF exports seem to work fine now.

I opened 3 recent K-5 DNG's through PDCU, did a few tweaks (mainly the optical corrections associated with using the 18-135), did a File > Save As > TIFF (16 bit) into a new export destination folder, and bingo, no crashes, no problems with all three DNG exports..

Before, PDCU would totally crash on 16 bit TIFF exports - ie the whole program would just disappear. Maybe the recent batch of .Net security updates MS released cured a problem or dependency somewhere.

So for me, the problem does appear crushed now.

Can this be used as a brand new installer as well? Is there any option for an user who lost the CD that came with the camera? Thanks

Crash, yes. Sorry my English.
I guess if PCDU Update 4.40WIN don't support Win64 somewhere should be note about it during installation.

I was wrong, there is 64 bit compatibility, as shown here: Compatibility of Pentax digital camera with Windows and Macintosh : Support & Service | PENTAX RICOH IMAGING

When I installed Vista 7 on my laptop, I installed 32 bit because DCU4 did not support 64 bit at the time. They've obviously fixed that.

You don't need the CD to upgrade the program, all you need is the download, however the download will only work if PDCU4 is already on your computer.
