Doesn't seem that much more comfortable. I found the K10D's grip just fine to hold onto.

The grip isn't made for looks. One can hardly judge it by it's appearance.

I wish there was a way to try it out without actually spending the money. I wish the grip on my K10 were deeper, which this seems to provide, but if it really sucks.....

This news wasn't about the grip but that Pentax made it available in Germany.

Actually, in the text linked in my post, they explicitely refer to demand from forum members which made them do the offer

I've EVER heard of a camera company doing that... offering a replacement grip, I mean. Cool.

Cheers,

As cool as the new alternative grip for K10/20 may be, I think Pentax could develop official battery grip for K1xxD users. Not just with extra shutter button but with extra power too.
My wishfull thinking....

Feels great!!! I luv it.

Well I had the grip changed on my K20D today and it definitely feels much better and more secure than the original one in my opinion. I particularly like the finger cutouts for the middle and small finger. The changes are subtle but I can already feel the difference, especially when holding the camera vertically. Again this is my experience, based on my average sized hands and making a direct comparison to the original.

The grip just takes a few minutes to change. It is possible to revert back to the original one but it requires the removal of the base plate. The infrared receiver is a little more recessed but it works without any obstruction.

I would have preferred headers and a set of dual exhausts.

Hey, that looks pretty nice. I like how my K20d handles, but if that's not *too* huge, I could see liking the leverage, especially in lieu of a battery grip with like a big flash on there.

And that Japanese site bogged down my browser something fierce. BRB.

*fixing problem and imagining grip *and* battery grip... * Hrm, only issue is that might be *too* much for me, to have both that and a battery grip on there at the same time, (I have fairly long fingers, but without sort of having the baseplate in the heel of my hand, that could be a bit of a reach. )

I bet I could find a model car shop and stick some of those headers and dual exhausts on something hot-shoe mountable, though, Sailor.

Me too but only if the exhausts were tuned. I prefer G minor.

NaCl(now if it had a place to store my bon bons......)H2O

edit: just kidding btw, it looks like it might help on long shoots.

The slight bulge actually feels more secure and it works just as well if not better for those with long fingers. I can pick up the camera with the middle and ring fingers and thumb with ease.

creampuff, thanks for review. How much does it cost in your country?

How I wish the extra bulk contain a GPS device...
