Regarding posting some of my pictures...I would if I could.

I'm an old cowhand...who doesn't know how to post pictures or even add one of those big K10D signs to my signature....

I can do the basics with computers like word processing, adding the little icons...but after that I'm kind of lost...

I had a heart attack in August of last year, and subsequent bypass surgery; I caught a very nasty infection in the hospital, was touch and go for while, and it greatly delayed the healing of my incision, which is a long and painful process anyway when they cut your sternum open from your neck to almost your belly button and then wire your bones shut with a coil of wire down the front of your chest; it creaks, groans, and shift on me when I move, and is extremely uncomfortable always. I also have scars down the full length of my left leg where they removed the main vein, and seven months later it is still swollen, painful, falls asleep easily and is very weak compared to what it was. I live daily with varying amounts of pain, sometimes quite severe, and didn't work at all for almost five months with no income assistance or insurance (I'm a musician, photographer, and graphic artist) and have been financially devastated as well, and am just now getting back to working a fair amount, so if you're wondering why I'm a bit cranky at times...

you try it.

Sincerely,
Cameron

I have the 55-300 and also the 18-55.

In all respects at all apertures from the short end to the long end this lens is better than the 18-55.
Shot at 640 ISO

A 100% crop

Another ho-hum shot from the zoom - jpg out of camera and slight sharpening applied

I could post many more - but wouldn't want to bore the members

Cheers

Dylan

I just got mine today. I've only snapped a few boring flower shots with it but so far I quite like it! Tomorrow is the real test at the u16 soccer game. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.

TESTED: Pentax 55-300 vs. Sigma 70-300 vs. Tamron 70-300

Answer to the OP:

I published test results here:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/562665-post1.html

This may answer your question.

PS.
I didn't post it here because IMHO the OP really started the thread in the wrong forum...
