I've been told March here too, so you guys will probably get it at the same time or before us.

Out of interest: where in NZ are you planning on getting the K20d from? What price will it be?

I'm currently in the UK, but will be traveling to NZ in mid-March, so I'm wondering whether to get the K20d here before I leave, or in NZ when I arrive.

At this stage my only "contact" is at Wellington Photographic Supplies (Wellington Photographic Supplies but their website is crap). It's a real "photographer's" store. I was told that it would sell for $2495 with the 18-55 mkII. The girl on the phone said they were going to a presentation, get to know the camera type evening soon, so I said "oooh, I'll come with you", and she seemed to think it was a good idea! But we'll see about that. keeping fingers crossed. They are never the cheapest store, but they're good, though of course have way more nikon and canon stuff. I have bought my last 2 SLRs there.

You should plan a stop over in NYC and go to B&H to get the good American prices!!

Right now, you can pre-order the K20D in Montreal for CAN$1259.99 plus taxes for an all out total ofCAN$1422.21. That would put it at more or less NZ$1990.
If you are a foreigner buying it in Canada, you can claim the taxes when you leave, so that would leave it at more or less NZ$1750. Quite a difference!

I've done that google search a few times and always came up with that Pentax 20d and $1000 link. Now suddenly I post it here and "POOF" gone.............. doesn't come up at all. I know the listings are dynamic but still.........I'm amazed.............

The sensor data sheet has an interesting statement for the k20d "..a more direct light path to the pixels, allowing higher quality results from classic pentax lenses"
http://www.pentaxslr.com/files/scms_docs//K20_sensor_sheet_fR2.pdf
I don't know what it means (less pf maybe) but it sounds good

Thanks flyer, but no thanks. I have dealt with B&H before, so IF (that's a big if) I did source it overseas it would probably be from them.

There is a diagram in the current issue of Chasseurs d'Images. The "dividers" between the individual image sensors in the 14 mp sensor are much lower than in the Sony 10 mp, allowing for wider angles of light impact, meaning less bias voltage is needed, which in turn means less noise.
