G700SE / Digital Cameras | Ricoh Global
G700SE / Digital Cameras | Ricoh Global

I'd like to see full waterproof, dust resistance and shock resistance version of G700 with APS-C sensor and fixed lens or super-compact wide-angel zoom (~28-40 mm in 35 mm equiv.).
Coated in polymer material.
With different power supply - 2AA accumulators and LiOn battery.

+ tiny full waterproof battery-grip for AA.

Dear Ricoh, use such idea for free...

Another possibility is that they might move into the consumer printer market. They certainly have the technology and they demonstrated a photo printer at Photokina.

A GR Digital with a larger sensor
A revival of the GX series of zoom compacts (built-in EVF? That would be nice.)
A monochrome camera (there have been some hints about this, but a long time ago)
Continuation of the CX series of travel cameras

I don't know what they are going to with the GXR, but shops in Japan were further discounting the body and most units just before Christmas. Either they're going to renew it or not pursue it any further.

Whatever Ricoh does, it will probably be photographer friendly and well made. What they could learn from Pentax is how to make their sensors perform better at high ISO.
Ricoh at one time had a few cult cameras for street photographers, I believe. Daido Moriyama used a GX200 (among different brands). I too wonder if a new GX X00 series cam, a cracking good and very solidly made high-end compact with a 1" sensor, might be a possibility. And that way, Pentax Ricoh can get something into position for when the Q series starts to run out of steam (due, imho, to its small sensor) - I don't think lack of interchangeable lenses is much of a drawback for a compact, especially if there is a sharp 24-70 or 24-105ish lens on it.

The presence of the printer was to demonstrate the capabilities of the 645D, and not the Ricoh printer products. I'm not sure they would enter the consumer printer market... which they could do by either extending their partnership with Epson, to "lower end" printers like 4900, 3880, R3000 or - unlikely - by cutting ties with Epson and start competing with them instead.

Well, as the new owner of both a Q and K-01, I find myself *open* to the idea of something different, which is a departure from my previously inflexible attitude toward Ricoh and their cameras. I will be eager to see if they will make something that will fit into my current Pentax lineup - like I've learned from the Q and K-01.

Who knows what will happen. Who would ever have thought Fuji would have shaken things up in the 'enthusiast' end of the market, before they brought out the X100?

Maybe it will be the first ever APS-C camera with an integrated printer?

An APS-C sensor, full submergible (for scuba diving), fixed short zoom camera would be welcomed by the market. A 16-35/2,8 zoom, with a fish eye add on, would be enough for most of the users.

If they produce such camera even with 1" sensor and with RAW - I think it could be the bomb too. But double bomb with APS-C or 4/3 sensor.

Well word I got was that when Ricoh took control of Pentax, the first thing management did was lay off people in the camera division. Which wouldn't really surprise me given that for the most part, Ricoh has never really managed to break into the mainstream camera market. The GXR and GR series of cameras are unique but for the average person, the brand and cameras are easy to overlook and don't capture much mindshare. Buying Pentax allows them to jumpstart their big camera ambitions and tap on the technical expertise from Pentax. A sure way to quicken the rollout of newer models and avoid the fate of other Japanese camera firms that disappeared into the history books.
