I noticed this thread hasn't updated in a while. Is there any news on what's coming up next week at CP+?

CP+ Exibition Layout

Atleast Pentax should have plenty of room to showcase their products. This ofcourse tells us nothing. But there has to be something, right?

They're certainly not an empty room down the hall under the toilet sign.

NO FF. GRD V - the only one new camera from Pentax at CP+.

It's nice to see they have a real section this time around.

I'm really hoping for new lenses. Fingers crossed on something to replace the 16-50. I've been holding off for months on buying a Sigma 17-50 because I want to see what Pentax has to offer. I hope the wait is worth it.

I'm not surprised about the FF - given Pentax basically said they've only just seriously started looking at it February would be a bit early (although I would hope for some further indications that they are actually developing one).

I would be disappointed if the much rumoured K-3 with a 24mp sensor doesn't make an appearance however.

I think the K-3 will not appear at least one year after the introduction of the K-5II. So I guess it is too early at CP+.

Will there be any new lenses? It would be a shame if they had such a large booth but nothing new to show us Pentaxians. lol maybe the booth is so big to fit all the massive Ricoh printers?

I guess a K-3 with updated PRIME engine would make sense, as per the K5ii body but with the features from K30/K01

Might hold the fort while FF is investigated.

I don't agree. I have my K-5 since november 2011, and the II's are just a very modest update of that camera. I'm sure they have more to show at the CP+. Just a new Ricoh is not enough...

Canon, Nikon, Sony, Oly and Fuji can easily command all the space in all the print and blog review columns for weeks after a big show. Recent experience with the K-01 (I'm quite certain Pentax was unprepared for the negative tsunami) demonstrates PRI release dates might aim for the news holes between shows as well as using surprise (i.e. no pre-release rumors).

Just my supposition.

Shows are where all your trade customers and the press are, which these days includes drivers of fashion and influential bloggers. Miss that and you've missed a lot. Your suggestion would suit some but not all products, imho. Better to announce a product before a show so all can see and handle it, and hear your marketing team talking it up, than afterwards when hardly anyone will be able to scope it. Anyway, who knows. PRI may announce a new camera tomorrow; they may not make any announcements at all for six months.

I made a mistake here and meant to say 2010. Don't tell me there was only a modest update of the K-5 after all that time?

And historically the CP+ is very important for Pentax because it's their home market. They cannot afford to announce "just" a Ricoh there.

My forecast for CP+:
Ricoh CX7
Ricoh GRD V with 27/1.9 lens
new GXR lensors (A16 M-mount, A 16 35 mm module)
Pentax WG-3
prototypes of 2 new zooms of Pentax

K-02....maybe....although I doubt

That's way too unimpressive Ogl. And didn't Pentax themselves state that the K-01 won't get a successor?
