Well from Dpreview's review of the Sony Rx-100, Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 In-Depth Review: Digital Photography Review,

The most comparably spec'd camera to me is the Oly XZ- series or the Panny LX- series.

Specs of the competition are as follows:

I was joking -- note the typo: 1/1.7', instead of 1/1.7".

More seriously, this feels to me like a lame attempt to chase the success of the Olympus OM-D.

Nice looking, seems like a good P&S to carry around.

Seriously? This has nothing to do with the OM-D.

If this is the early sign of Ricoh's intentions, which I very much think it is, then we have some interesting and fun times ahead.

Looks like Ricoh get it.

Canon and Nikon look sideways (at each other).

Sony looks only forwards.

Two of the most successful and talked-about cameras of the past two years, the Fuji X100 and the Olympus OM-D have looked both forwards and backwards.

Ricoh, with Pentax, have the opportunity to take it further, and I think this is just the amuse-bouche!

Finally, Pentax's answer to the G12 (and prolly G1X too, given how good Pentax engineers are with sensor tweaking....)

No hotshoe though.

EPhotozine say:

The build quality and handling of the camera, with rubberised grip that covers the front of the camera, was very good, with a premium camera feeling that made it feel like it was worth more than the £399 asking price.

Wow, just really looked at that back view - it's fantastic with the buttons and the dials. Love that EV dial!

Pentax really hasn't offered a serious P&S camera other than the WG series waterproof models. Everything was a "me too" camera and probably outsourced. This looks like a good addition to the camera lineup. I'm looking at small camera options by spring when I roll the Motorcycle out of the garage and this is one more option to look at if it's available by then.

Yes, seriously. Reviving a classic model name with a retro-look camera. But that is only one part, and not the most important part, of the OM-D's success. So to me this feels like chasing a trend, without understanding the nature of that trend. 400 quid for an advanced P&S -- if this thing takes off you can knock me down with a feather.

wish there was a lens-ring control dial like on my Canon S95, or on the Olympus XZ-1/2. still, I agree that this is a solid camera offering, and if it's street price is right, I'll seriously consider buying one in the future...

I've been playing one for over a week now, trust me, it's a very good camera. You should seriously think about this one if you are looking for a company to your full sized dSLR cameras.

Its battery is the same as one of the Sigma batteries (compatible) which is used in Sigma DP series camera?

The camera is pret compact, its height is about the same as an iPhone4's width, only a few mm wider than iPhone's height:

Looks like a great new entry. I'd probably purchase it even if I wasn't a fanboy.
