Press release typo? or new colors coming for the K-30?

"DSLRs...

K-30: The K-30’s weather sealed body, impressive list of features and pocket-friendly price makes this an attractive choice in any of its 18 available colors..."

I believe the k-30 comes in more colors in Asia, vs here. It's two different types (silky vs matte?), and something like 6 or 8 colors each. Probably 9 each, since the press release says 18.

I kinda figured that in Asia, Pentax has more colors available, but in N. America, we only have so far blue, white and black. I wonder what colors will be released to the rest of the world :-)?

It looks like its the Q10 that is being released outside Japan in the range of colors -
"Newly introduced MX-1 defines where classic design meets contemporary quality while Q10 colors take self-expression to the next level"
or is it both?

Based on what they did with the Q10 (release all colors, 100, in North America) just today, it's entirely possible that they plan to introduce all the k-30 colors worldwide also.

Yes, it certainly is - and I hope they do. It is one thing that clearly and boldly sets Pentax apart in the dSLR and MILC marketplace.

Yes, but we're talking about marketing here. Black is now available for the Q10 (it wasn't here in the US until this announcement) but other options that will draw attention to Pentax are also offered. This way they get more attention, you get your black camera, and everyone wins (we hope).

New colors for the K-30.
New colors for the Q10.
No new colors or at least combinations for the K-01.

Pentax is very cruel. But it makes sense if the K-01 is a one-off experiment.

Says who? I've never understood that why cameras can't be any color. Nobody thinks twice now about using a brightly colored phone or having a brightly colored car. So why can't we have cameras in bright colors? Photography is all about color. I would think this would be the one field where people would be more into it, not less. Makes no sense to me that some people just want basic black. Then again I don't really get people who refuse to shoot in color at all. I like B&W but not all the time...

K-30 in silver is already available in UK, I think it is a very good thing to have more colours available, it will catch your attention and that matters

Two reasons come to mind that are practical and not simply matters of style or taste. First, an all black camera is less obvious and if you are there to record an event but not disturb it then black suits that situation better than nearly any other choice. Second, when dealing with reflections a flat black camera is less likely to show up at all.

Actually, brightly colored cars don't sell as well as black, white, silver, and dull colors.
