They need to add on an additional acronym to differentiate from the predecessor... it's mildly confusing.

My understanding was that its predecessor came out at that same price point, and eventually dropped to about $350 before being discontinued, so it makes sense that this one comes out at that price point (especially if it's going to be better IQ and a few more features).

It looks like my perfect walk around lens. Perfect focal length and nice fast aperture.

I can see the attraction, but the WR18-135 is, to me, the better general lens. When light gets precious, I'd rather have a constant F2.8 zoom (at worst).

Good on Sigma for making a succeeding lens lighter for once! Let's hope they lead a trend.

I wish that I could have my now discontinued 17-70 2.8-4 at a constant aperture.

..and after some deliberation, I ended up actually getting the 18-135 WR instead of waiting for the new Sigma. A proven performer, weather sealed to match my K-5, and also lightweight and unobtrusive. I'm happy with it thus far..

I'm waiting for some reviews, but I expect this lens to be impressive, judging by how the new "Art" 35/1.4 is besting the Canon and Nikon offerings.

I was considering this lens as well, but i looked on the sigma website and it only shows nikon, canon and sigma mounts for the new version.
Same for the new 30 1.4, i hope it is just an omission but i wonder if they have decided to only do new lenses for the big 2?

I am glad to see that, I am seriously considering this lens as i do not have an all purpose zoom for my K5.
I hope the reviews are as good as for the 35 1.4 art lens!

It almost seems like Sigma wants to distant themselves from Pentax in initial announcements, whats up with that?

Hope this time there won't be anything missing comparing to N/C versions.
