I think the Efina will be a Japan-only product.. or Asia market, I don't know.

oh here from the site:
The Efina also offers a choice of four body colors to satisfy the user’s preference. This model is expected to be launch in Asian countries except in Japan and in China.

It doesn't look promising as a product... well, specs-wise.
I thought Pentax was done making stuff like this? Why revive an otherwise-unknown camera model anyway? The name itself sounds good, LOTR-ish even, but... the cam itself doesn't look so good a performer in itself.

Old Pentax brought such products and marketed them like a normal product.
Current Pentax still bring such products but do not try to sell them everywhere (I don't think the LS*** cam sold in Europe at all BTW) but if it sells and makes a profit somewhere, why the heck wouldn't they ?
This is a girl P&S, and this cheap girl P&S even offers an acceptable WA and isn't ugly at all (considering target group). C'mon guys...

Yep - Pentax needs to have a line of P&S to show at stores like Best Buy and Walmart. What's the point of trying to expand themselves if they can't catch the eyes of each different consumer group.

Because I thought they said (or at least expressed) that they'll be concentrating on ILC's and high-end compacts for Pentax. Well, true, if it sells... why not

How can you be disappointed, if it's P&S camera for Asian countries, except Japan and China?

Well okay, Im not so much disappointed as just "not excited." Even if the camera is meant for another market, I would still find it interesting if it looked great or had some special features, as it would indicate the company is still fresh and doing innovative things. Considering this camera has a name taken from another Pentax camera, it would be fun to see how they will reinterpret an old camera design. But they didn't. All they did was take the name, which is always a bad sign, no?

Efina (APS one) had absolutely nothing interesting and was a very timid effort from Pentax to make one of the three (I think) APS cam Pentax ever half-hearted offered.
Efina sounds a lot lika Femina though. Don't look further. There's nothing to reuse from the original Efina, nothing interesting. At all.
