Seems to use the same sensor as the WG-2, but I never saw reviews and comparisons of the WG-2 with other waterproof camera models. I would be interested in seeing how it fares against the Panasonic and Sony waterproof cameras.

At least the optics (for the WG-3s) is different, hopefully improved. For the target market, I think they're neat - they would match well trekking equipment

Imaging-Resource have WG-2 samples, by the way.

Well, this is an auspicious occasion - this appears to be the very first actual 'cross-pollination' between Pentax and Ricoh equipment:

These WG-III cameras take the 0.8x Ricoh DW-5 wide-angle conversion lens to take the 25mm out to 20mm. This lens was originally designed for the small sensor Ricoh Caplio cameras, unlike the similar DW-6 and GW-2 conversion lenses meant for the larger 1/1.7" sensor GXR S10 and GRD III respectively.

One thing that strikes me, looking at both, is how small they've made the Pentax name on the WG-3 (I even had trouble finding it at first)!

Or the other way 'round? At least I think Pentax was the first to make these "sideways zooming" lenses with prism used in the W-series.

Pentax has this on their Japanese website now. You can see pictures of the wireless charger and the 20mm equivalent wide angle converter lens.

Hmm! That's actually a bit tempting. Might be the replacement for my W10, which enters its 8th summer this year (and has only had service with sealing replacements once, so who knows when it starts leaking).

Any improvement on the battery life? We really like our WG-2, but the battery life stinks.
