If you follow the discussion further. The thread shows a couple of images taken with the camera at ISO 100 to 6400. In my opinion noise is still acceptable up to ISO 1600. The noise is very evident and significant image degradation occurs at ISO 3200 to 6400. Image quality at these ISOs is to me unacceptable.

The pictures are underexposed and you're looking at processed jpegs, so they are not a true test. Realistically speaking, how often do we shoot at ISO 3200 much less 6400?
