Dxo just did a test and review of the [USD $13,000] Sony 500mm f4. Maybe they will test the DA 560 soon too. They have already tested the DA*300 - it will be interesting to compare the two.
I'm always a bit puzzled by their Pentax reviews. The "sharpness" score is suspiciously low, and I think that must be caused by the relatively strong AA filter of the K-5 (about the only thing I don't like with the K-5 compared to my K10D, although the K10D has such a weak filter that moire isn't uncommon). Indeed, in their test of the 50mm macro, they give it 9 "Perceptual Megapixels" on the K10D but only 8 P-mp on the K-5!

I hope they start testing with a K-5 IIs - or a K3s - soon!

Frankly, from what I have seen up to today I don't see any advantage to use this lens instead of a Bigma. Even if the price should fall a lot, still I wouldn't see why to use a lens so long when another has same quality and is much more portable. Surely the Bigma is bad at long distance, but birds must be near to get good quality shot, with any lens.

Any way tomorrow I am going to Milan to a Photo Show, I hope they allow visitors to try the lens at the Pentax booth, I am very curious to see it in my hands.
Please, let us know your feedback !

I've been waiting for the PF forum review to come out. Any idea when it might be?

I went, and I was able to take some shots at a model at the next booth; sadly exposure was at 1/160; f/6,3 and ISO 3200, so quality is not valuable at full. I am going to post the pictures soon. The lens is long but manageable; still the price seems "too much" compared with what monsters from Canon, Nikon and the Sony 500/4 inspires when you hold them.

Sorry, it's needed to be logged in that forum to see the pictures. I'm reposting them.

So, this is the 560 taken with a 645D:

These are all pictures (with the relative crop 100%) taken at around 1/160; F6,3; ISO 3200. Precise data are in the exif.

Looks pretty good, but yeah: 1/160, ISO 3200. Not the best basis for any assessments of sharpness. The colour rendering and contrast seems nice.

The initial monthly production volume for the HD DA 560mm is 400 units per month. Of course, it could be only a one-month (400 units) batch, a continuous production or anything in between.
