I have been using the stock screen and the SMCP-K 50mm f/1.2 without problem - though I will admit the O-ME3 viewfinder magnifier has been an indispensable accessory.
This is the first I have heard of using the O-ME53 magnifier to enhance focus sensitivity with the stock screen. I don't have one to play with, but the idea intrigues me since I have found the focus aids on the KatzEye to be obtrusive.

Do you have experience with the Canon EE-S screen? does it affect spot metering, I got used to it quite a bit too.
I use them in my Canon DSLR, they work great with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.0L and EF 85mm f/1.2L - though both of these lenses focus by wire so the extra focus accuracy is needed.

The magnified seems to enhance the "snap" of the standard focusing screen. Also due to the increased magnification fine details stand out more so it is easier to identify the point of precise focus. Though this only is true for the very center of the viewfinder - due to astigmatism inherent in the eyepiece, manually focusing outside the central 1/2 of the viewfinder becomes difficult.

I had an EE-S type focusing screen in my K-5 and iis...didn't effect spot metering at all.
It does make the view finder darker if you are using slow lenses though (f4 and slower)

I haven't had a bigger problem with metering than I did with the stock screen.

Awesome! Saw the Canon EE-s for $34 on Amazon. IŽll take my chances to cut it to the correct size. I am not sure what to do about the shims. But donŽt want to pay U$100 for the focusingscreen version.

If you're lucky you can reuse the original shim. Alternatively, some use strips of scotch tape to shim their screens.

I haven't noticed any metering problems the few times I have used spot metering. I do see occasional underexposure with matrix metering, however, especially with slower lenses. I have an EE-s screen with frame markings, and suspect it's caused by those markings (being laser etched, not painted black as on the stock screen).

T/1.5 and F/1.4 or T/1.5 and F/1.2 ??

That would be a big difference...

It's F1.4 (and not listed yet, that's the 85mm 1.4 you are seeing Christian)

They've also got some samples up. Very sharp but not sure about the Bokeh. https://www.flickr.com/photos/96801808@N06/

Ah, not surprised, seems more logical.
If it is very sharp and nicely priced it may indeed become a nice addition to Samyang lineup.

Sharp. Not for me though. No A/F, no speed, no thanks.

I doubt it will be cheaper than a used F or FA 50 1.4. It would have to be quite better wide open, for me to be interested...

...and I'd still probably pick an A 50 1.2 (at some point, when I have money to spare...)

Sharp, nice manual focus, aperture ring, speed (what? f/1.4 is slow now ?), yes thank you.
Might be a nice alternative to all 50/1.4 and /1.7 I already have
