The K-5ii memory card door is so much better than the K-5 door
Thanks, it is nice to know that the card door is better, although the k-5 is not as bad. I open and close the SD door a lot... just like getting in and out of a car, since I like putting the SD card on the computer drive directly.

game changer

Wouldn't it be interesting if Pentax did something outside the box like introduce the k-3 as a bridge camera to FF using and APS-H equivalent sensor with about a 1.3 crop factor. The image circles on the DA limited lenses would likely be large enough to serve this sensor with minimal vignetting so users of current pentax APS-C would have an easy upgrade path, the depth-of-field properties would approach that of FF, and maintenance of a compact side would be easier. Such a camera would be truly unique with advantages of size cost and lens compatibility of APS-C, and image quality, DoF, SNR approaching FF; perhaps 24MP?

So, if this K3 pops up in the near future and is an apsc 24mp with all the bells and whistles, where will the price of the K5ii go?

This is what I am wondering. I really hope the price on K3 isnt much over $1200 but who knows.

It's price surely has to be capped at at least a couple of hundred £/$s under the D600 - assuming a very highend APS-C camera. The price of APS-C cameras is going to be squeezed by the cheaper FFs even if the APS-Cs carry higher performance in all areas other than the sensor.

It all depends upon whether the K-3 is going to replace the K-5II or slot in above it.

If the K-3 would be a top APS-C camera with very advanced specs regarding velocity (top tracking AF-C, top burst, very big buffer, top quality very high ISO) I don't see why it should cost less than a basic slow FF. I guess it should cost the same, or more.

Why? The K-3 is for those who want an APS camera. Incidentally, the rumored Nikon D400 is rumored to be significantly more expensive than the D600. It will also almost certainly sells in much higher volume.

I wish Pentax would surprise everybody with very good low ISO performance. Moving away from the trend, and back towards higher IQ.

K-5 (II)(s) is still the best low ISO APS-C camera - only a few FF cameras have (marginally) better DR, for instance. I would be surprised if the new camera doesn't match or surpass that.

It would be cool if it came with an ISO 25 mode, though, or at least ISO 50

That's what I meant. High ISO is cool for being able to make family snap in low light. But when high IQ is needed, the other end is much more important.
