Today... i dont know. I dont miss it at all, wether its in lens or in body. Dont have any of those, and i shoot FF
Exactly the same here. I don't shoot long tele (105mm on FF and 77mm on APS-c are longest focal lentgths for me) and I don't miss stabilisation at all. Even on Pentax 90% of the time SR wos off on my cameras. When I decide what camera I should get, presence/lack of SR has absolutely no influence in my decision.

I do regret it sometimes (since Pentax video is so bad)
K-5 (II), K-30 and K-01 video is miles ahead of K-r video, isn't it? So Pentax video /= Pentax video. I haven't shot much video with my K-5, but the IQ is very good. Just two small changes would already have made it more than sufficient for me: (1) Focus peaking in video mode and (2) a better (slightly more sensitive) built-in microphone.

Here is an example of the K5 with the DA21 I took last year:

Looks like an SD footage made with an older camera, and I'm not talking about the colors but the sharpness. Pentax video (even the k5 or k30) is years behind others, mostly Panasonic or Sony dslrs/mirrorles. I don't believe the k5 is even taking the frame at full HD, not even at 720p. Looks like a 480p upsampled.

I agree that the quality is not the best in that video posted.

BUT, the K-5 has pretty awesome video quality thanks to the mjpeg codec, what it lacks is manual control.

I can assure you that my K-5 videos are sharp as a razor when I watch them on my retina MacBook. No upsampling there. Single frames are quite usable as stills.

Its been a while since i posted on here..

Just wondering does anyone actually know a date for when Pentax will make announcements for whatever new cameras they're releasing? Some time ago a few of you were kind enough to pm me some specs & images before the announcement of the K7.

I'm looking to either:

1)sell all my pentax gear: K7, kit lens, da* 50-135mm, 12-24mm f4, 35mm ltd.
2)buy canon full frame either a 5D mkii or a 6D with a 24-105 f4 to start with then maybe a 2nd hand 24mm f1.4
3) invest in Pentax full frame camera & lenses.

My main objective is higher detail and shallower depth of field for portraits etc.

What I hope for is a pentax full frame camera & an update to the da limited prime lenses. I think these lenses could be a much bigger attraction point for Pentax if they marketed them properly. Just look at the success of the Fuji x100 camera with retro styling and also this new metal sigma 30mm 1.4 lens.

This is due to some weird youtube processing that it is not sharp. Moreover it is taken using the cross-processing filter, handheld, manually focused and not post-processed..... I am not a videographer and have zero experience.

I better take it of it is not a good example...

I have no specs I could send you; however, I think soon we'll start seeing some leaks (instead of the made-up nonsense we had so far). It's highly possible that we'll see only APS-C (K-mount) cameras this year, I hope you're not in a hurry.

Even if there is a lot of noise being made about FF, I'd say what they really need now is to strengthen the APS-C line; for example, by having an entry level which will bring in new customers (like the K-x did). Doing this will also help when the FF will finally be released.

The calendar, but please don't tell anyone!
We're at the beginning of the new fiscal year, and dealers around the world should be provided with product roadmaps, I think

Only APS-C cameras this year...The probability is 95%. IMO.

Unless you are shooting from a tripod, what is the point of turning SR off? I see SR as an advantage, not disadvantage. What am I missing?
