Looks like they are milking that sensor for all it's worth! Ohh, and I'm waiting for the K-0 price drop. It actually seems strange that they would do the K50 considering that the K30 isn't really all that old.

Who says the announcements are over now? Why would they stop?

1. Pentax is plugging holes in their line up.
2. Apparantly Pentax is not sitting still at all.
3. Pentax still has more holes to plug, and they must be aware of that.

It's a good sensor - there isn't anything much better in APS-C out there at the present time.

There's no need of a PC to get what's on an SD card.
OTG USB cable are there for a reason, plug the cam to your smartphone/tablet and done.
Oh, faster than wifi btw.

Well that sensor is still great.

Well making dual K-50/K-500 is a good move. From one productionline there are now two products that are aimt at different users.

I agree, sort of... but with 24 MP I would be way more inclined to go without an AA filter, which won't improve the sensor, but would improve the picture.

My guess is that Pentax won't use a 24 mp sensor unless they are sure they can get "Pentax quality" out of it. If they can't, I'd guess they will drop down to a 20 mp sensor. My feeling is that Pentax are staking our their territory now in a few key areas. Two of these areas are no compromises a) in the user experience (hence twin dials and a pentaprism on their entry-level camera) and b) in image quality, hence they won't use a particular sensor just to play the megapixel game. If you want integrity over marketing, go Pentax - it's a fair pitch to make.

There is some resistance in the market to larger file sizes as more and more people process off-PC and on tablets or even in the web. Speed overhead is becoming a larger par of he equation.
