Agreed, but this doesn't engage Pentax to keep this cropped sensor we've known since 2010.
From the same manufacturer (Kodak then Truesense Imaging):

- 40Mpix sensor is 32.9 x 43.8mm
- 50Mpix sensor is 36.7 x 49.1mm
- 60Mpix sensor is 40.2 x 53.7mm

Those are still CCDs.
Even Leica said they'd go CMOS and want to incorporate Video.

Pentax'd better follow.

Why follow, when they can lead?

In the digital medium format market, why not? For example, they are the only ones with stabilization; and if I'm not mistaken they're the only ones with multi-point AF.

If I was in the market for a 645, I wouldn't care too much about CCD vs CMOS. I'd be much more worried about having the full-sensor with per-pixel performance similar to the latest gen FF sensors at low ISO. High ISO performance doesn't seem to be the MF niche to me, but others disagree.

YMMV.

Video doesn't matter to me on APS-C or FF. I don't know if videographers are looking for a MF video camera or not. It seems like it would be a tiny portion of the market to me but who knows.

Live-view is convenient of course. I'd pay an extra $300 or so for that on a MF.

I agree although LiveView may IMO be much more important depending on the format of the camera (think film Hasseblad-like viewfinder with mirrorless MF) and generally, precise focussing of course.
I don't care about Video either but others might.

BTW, bettet high ISO would be welcome as long as low Iso isn't sacrificed. Looking at what Pentax did with K5 sensor, there's lattitude even in Low Iso.

645d doesn't have a shake reduction, if tht was what you meant.

He means it's at least available with the new 90mm macro.

SR in MF camera is very complex engineering problem. It's easier to put SR in lenses.

May be but, as of today, HD Pentax DFA645 90mm f/2.8 Macro is the one and only medium format lens with stabilization.

Indeed, I was talking about the 90mm macro - which is just the first DMF stabilized lens (but there's nothing similar in sight from the other DMF manufacturers).
Hopefully, the in-lens SR will be more reliable than (small format) competition's.
