That's 4 DSLRs. How about two new 645D models? A near-FF high-end high-MP model and a lower-MP crop model that's significantly less expensive than the current?
The rumour says the cameras will be priced between $400 and $2,000. That would seem to rule out a 645D.

That's right

Here's what I think is *very* probable:

1: Fun, small and cheap K-300 in umpteen colors and with new Sony 20 mp sensor.
2+3: K-3 and K-3s with Sony 24mp APS-C sensor

So what would the last 2 be? Seriously, I don't think they will release or preview two FF cameras right now, but you never know. Another possibility is a K-30 "II" with the Sony 20mp sensor.

I'm hoping they manage to squeeze a few extra levels of 'noise free' ISO from using that new Panasonic filter that does away with the Bayer filter.

Looks like good news to me, maybe also one lens coming with it.

I guess that Q10, K-30 and K-5II(s) stay in the program.

So with 5 new camera's that is a lot.
- K-mount module voor Ricoh
- entrylevel dslr
- FF (no low pass filter)
- aps-c camera above K-5 (K-3 in two versions).

I do wonder what the aps-compact will be. At that price it can have a DA Limited styled lens on it.

645DII will be later. Not for USD2000.

Near FF - what do you mean? APS-C or FF. No near FF models.

let's see a camera for 2000 dollar...with what lens? ok lot of old lenses ad sigma. but wy other with ebay and still have same flash system probably worst af?
i mean if i need a ff at 2000 dollar i will buy a nikon or canon, with big sytem behind.
Pentax should have stayed and reinforce the apsc system, with lot of ggod fast prime, new af and more rounded camera.
i will keep my 645d and k5, probably selling everything else and buying a d800 that you can find for 2200 euro now or a used d700.
mst of the tamron and sigma most interesting lens are not even produced in k mount.

I don 't think many people are expecting a full-frame camera for $1,000, not even from Pentax.

Why not? We have been waiting for long enough. There will be people who need or just want the top end (Nikon 800 equivalent) and can afford it, there will be people who will just want an 'entry' level FF (Nikon 600 equivalent) but can not afford the higher spec one, who will buy into the system knowing there is an upgrade available should they feel the need to progress and / or will have the cash in the future.

I think this would be a good thing as it will say that Pentax is serious about the future.

Yes, Pentax may want to make a statement even if the cameras are not 100% ready yet, so it's certainly possible that the 5 cameras are K-300, K-3, K-3s (all for almost immediate release) and two FF models previewed for later release. But perhaps even more interesting: A preview or even release of FF cameras would open questions about their lens lineup which they would need to answer.

I really much doubt about that FF for now...High end APS-C is enough for me...1.st April is coming! (not that I would mind getting Pentax FF..)

There should come entry level super fun cam. Maybe with really nice video gadgets...new flash?! and I agree on that thing of having new set of lenses too. For DA(aps-c) and D-FA(FF?!)
Ditto also for plausible production model of FF.

Who knows, but "5 DSLRs" sounds more like the menu for 12-18 months when you add on other things, like new fixed-lens cameras of a Ricoh kind, the Q and compacts, a 645D mk 2, more lenses, etc,. A K3/K3s and a new "Ricoh" fixed-lenser sound a bit more plausible for now. The Ricoh name could be replaced by Pentax I suppose.

f there is a $2000 camera in the mix, then I'd guess it will be APS-C and highly unusual, like the world's first completely invisible camera using a range of slot-in viewfinders. The camera is invisible (or transparent if you prefer) because it is coated in those new light-bending paints beloved of the military. Such a camera will be a massive hit with street photographers since no one will see the cam - the photographer will simply look as if they are scratching their nose when raising it to eye level. A suite of anime-inspired ringtones will allow almost any sound to be assigned to the camera's functions and there'll be a "Find My Cam" iPhone app for when you "lose" it around your home because you just can't see it. Your cam will bark to indicate its location.

It's quite hard to see FF before 2014 if ever because of the lenses question. But who knows ... this is Pentax ...
