Sigma 35mm F1.4 for Pentax: ETA 4/30

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM A1 Lens for Pentax DSLR Cameras 340109

B&H has just advised me that Sigma has given them an ETA of 4/30 for this lens!

Without a full-frame this lens isn't going to be the next big thing, so hopefully Pentax holds up their end of the deal

I expect close fight, but I suspect Sigma will emerge victorious. It is a much younger design afterall

I think the new Sigma lenses will no longer have EX but the built of Art line is EX.

Whoa, that was sooner than expected. "Luckily" I'll have some more time to save up because It'll take a year or two before these find their way to Europe.

I think Vodan is right, the new ART line is replacing their top end EX optics.

Ya know, if ever I saw an obscure indicator that a Pentax FF camera were coming, the release of this Sigma FF coverage lens so quickly in K mount is the best one I have seen.

Given that Sigma regularly stiffs Pentax users by not producing FF oriented lenses in K mount, I'm frankly surprised to see it (and this quickly).

Seeing the price ($899) makes me even happier that I grabbed a Sigma 30/1.4 when they were on sale last month!!

More likely they are done for the moment on build outs for Canon and Nikon and now building out for Pentax and other mounts, this is why in almost all cases the Pentax version of Sigma lenses comes at a later date - Sigma designs every lens they can to be FF compatible where the design allows for it.

True, but my past impression of Sigma's later Pentax/Sony releases are that they miss the party as opposed to being fashionably late (i.e. they would sometimes take a year or longer, if ever, to introduce the lenses for the smaller brand mounts).

Hey, that's good news! I love that it is full frame, it would look pretty handsome on my MZ-S...

Curious to see if the price will drop over time. That darn FA 31mm Limited never comes down in price
