That would be pretty odd. It is a new camera and I think pretty kick butt for it's price range
Yes, but prices have nose dived on it in the last 30-45 days and that usually indicates that something is imminent.

The price is not a problem. The problem is too much good and new cameras from Pentax last year.
The users bought a lot of K-01, K-30 and K-5II for a last year.

Lemme stop by Costco on the way home. I air pop enough for everybody!

I reserve judgment on K3 purchase until I see official spec sheets. But I'm watching with anticipation!

I wonder if they just want to wash their hands of all hoya-ness and start fresh with Ricoh type cameras.

Why would they replace the K5 II's so quickly?

Lets at least hope they don't cripple the video :s

However, how many K5 classic owners went ot a K30 or II/IIs? I know I didn't. The K-01 was a different animal, and was usually bought as a compliment to an already started Pentax system.

Now with the K3 us K5 classic owners who did not upgrade to the second gen model will have a true upgrade path. in theory. I still plan on keeping my 2 K5's. But Im sure I will add the K3 to my stable as soon as possible. I already got the funds squirled away. I may even sell the D600 to get there.

As a K-7 user, K-5IIs would be update too, but so could this K-3 be too...but if not...K-5IIs will call my name.

I was in the camp that felt the K5II was a stop gap model that lacked some expected improvements and decided to wait and not replace my K-5 classics.

I am nowhere near exploiting what this model can do, but a K-3 with faster performance, better continuous AF and incorporating all the features and improvements seen in the K30 and K5II/s will be very attractive.

If it is price competitive with the offerings from Nikon it would be an easy decision. I could succumb to CBA yet again.

But, it still makes a lot of sense. It is what I have been thinking all the way a long. April is too soon for anything else...

Funny K3 rumors back to full steam when I'm considering putting a sum of money in to a Zone VI enlarger based lab
I'll watch the K-3 with much interest though ...

I just hope the K-3 doesn't inherit the styling language of the K-30. I prefer the understated refinement of the K-7/5/etc.

I will be buying a K-3. I was very disappointed that the K-5 IIs lacked the upgraded CDAF and focus peaking of the K-30. I'll happily pay a few hundred dollars more for the extra features and improvements on the K-3, but pre-ordering is a virtual guarantee that you will overpay. Pentax always starts out with a high list price and drops it soon after.

But, how many K5 users bought a K5II, or a K30? I did get a K-01, but it didn't feel like a K5 replacement, more like an add on camera to go anywhere, for a rock-bottom price. I really feel like a K3 is the upgrade for all of those who have been using their K5s for the last 2 plus years and didn't feel like the K5 II was a big enough step up to see jumping from the K5.
