Surely, you jest.

I should clarify. I'm left wondering how FF will play out for Pentax. Are they going to do FF at an enthusiast level or a pro level? Price points, what's going to happen to the used market. I know I'm over thinking it, but there's a lot of uncertainty and I've got a kit I can live with very easily for a year or so.

Assuming my Japanese reading aren't failing me...

The first link is just a recycling of the same Nippon Camera magazine predictions from a couple weeks ago.

The second link mentions a 24MP camera above the K-5, and a 16MP camera below the K-30, not a replacement.

I'm skipping the popcorn and going right to the beer tonight, I think. A good IPA sounds right given the bitterness I see this thread swinging to .....

I should switch to Canon or Nikon where I know they have a full frame path, this conjecture is killing me.

Enthusiast level. The Canikon traditional pro market is way too expensive to get into.

But, how many K5 users bought a K5II, or a K30? I did get a K-01, but it didn't feel like a K5 replacement, more like an add on camera to go anywhere, for a rock-bottom price. I really feel like a K3 is the upgrade for all of those who have been using their K5s for the last 2 plus years and didn't feel like the K5 II was a big enough step up to see jumping from the K5.
hmm.

I never had a K-5 before I got my IIs.

Actually The K-5 IIs was my first DSLR period, Thats how long I held on to film........(and still do, just less)

I'm probably not a typical camera purchaser.

To be honest, While I'm interested in whatever new stuff Pentax comes out with I have absolutely no thoughts about replacing the IIs as it is more than enough to me.

Last year the street talk was Ricoh intended to compete in the professional market. It was unclear what that meant, specifically. Haven't heard much about that this year.

Sony is more similar to Pentax than either of the others. Just sayin'.

So there is no news to this point, only renewed speculation.

That's right Ron. I'm not going to get to excited over this until I see the announcements and specs. During the past few years the rumour mill has been so wound up that the new cameras came across as disappointments. I'll take a wait and see attitude.
