Pentax K-3 and 3s scheduled to appear in April

The K-3 will be Pentax's newest flagship prosumer camera weighing-in at 24mp.
It is slated to replace the latest generation K-5 units and reestablish Pentax's reputation as the best APS-C camera on the market.

There is also be a new 645D II and other lower entry level DSLR's aimed at replacing the K-30 etc.

And so, it looks like the new lineup that is rumored to consist of 5 DSLR's is looking something along the lines of: K3, K3s, 645D II, K30 replacement thus far.

Replacing the k-30? Or taking place below the k-30 as the cheapest/lowest Pentax DSLR product?

Take take "best APS-C", it's gonna need better AF than the D7100, and probably better than the upcoming Canon 7D2.

Is this about that Japanese magazine who made predictions about several brands, including Pentax?

It would seem odd to actually replace the K-5II and K-5IIs given that they released so recently.

Fishy!

As Adam mentioned: reminiscent of April 2012.

These are mid-stream models with incremental updates, a true update is most definitely due!

"Replace" implies a discontinuation of the K-30...
That would be pretty odd. It is a new camera and I think pretty kick butt for it's price range

Well incremental in that they didn't get a sensor upgrade but they both had overhauled AF systems. I would expect them to move down a tier or the K-3 to slot in above rather than that they would be replaced.

This doesn't bode well for the K-3 being all that interesting. It looks like we'll probably be getting basically a K-5II with a 24mp sensor, maybe a new body, but nothing radical if it's going to replace the K-5II.

I'd hope that this 'update' will be better than that. K-5 II(s) is update, and a good one, but now new things should be delivered...by the end of this year minimun if not, I'll just get k-5IIs.

If Pentax expects to stay in the race, so to speak, then the K-5 to K-3 upgrade had better be as big as the jump from the D7000 to the D7100. And that's going to be very hard for Pentax due to the D7100's excellent video, buffer, and AF specs, though I'm certain Pentax can come ahead in terms of image quality, as with the K-5. They need something more, though. They really do...and it's going to be even harder now that APS-C cameras are all priced in the low $1000's. It'll be interesting to see what their next move will be!

Something like that hybrid EVF/OVF that they patented would be an excellent way to do that - Nikon went a little way there with the 7100. You're right they need something.

A useful photographic feature.
