K-01 ii

It may mean nothing at all, but I find it strange that this chinese webstore displays a potential upcoming "K-01 II" along with the rumored K-3, K-3s and 645D Il (bottom page) :

The [Pentax Digital Camera Pentax digital cameras offer, and photo Daquan _ 2-ZOL Zhongguancun Online

lol K oh one two!
24MP mirrorless, improving on the K-01 would be pretty sweet, but I'm not sure how reliable that source is

K-01 II

Positioning - Prosumer.
Mode of Operation - Full Manual.

They did say K-01 wasn't completely dead. I heard the quote.

[EDIT] Ignore this - see from Wired below. Sure was fun to think about though
FULL MANUAL? OMG, is this the K1000 throwback? (look at the logotype K). A light-tight box and 3 dials is all you need (I can hear Mr. Thomas now).

Haha, I love this.

I will believe in a K-01 successor when I see it! (And then I will pinch myself awake. Oh well.)

This is some QUALITY rumor-mongering.

if you click on the "full manual" and drill down so it gives you a list of products that fall under that category... almost every DSLR is listed. I think it means its capable of full manual?

Although the last runs of the current version of the Pentax K-01 have already long gone through the assembly process... It would also not be difficult to upgrade most of the original K-01 components, and then add in: a new image chip, some sort of viewfinder in addition to the live view screen, and even bonus perks such as even well in excess of 5+fps. And then even to do that in a more traditional camera design. It could be possible to add that all in for a new model line of mirrorless, and do it in less than six months

As for the full manual issue. I'm assuming that their could be a line of cameras for Pentax to go back to their biggest user base - the "student catered" edition of the K1000, by offering a few digital features and then only having something such as match metering.

Naw, it would have to be a DIGITAL match meter, bouncing vertically on the right side, like the old days, but not....

Somebody has already reviewed the K3 and given it 5 stars. That's how much you can trust internet reviews.

K-01 ii hopes

As a recent returnee to Pentax (i.e. two weeks ago), I really hope they redo the Pontiac Aztek of Cameras. There is so much right with it but so much wrong.

I love *most* of it but have some real issues with things:

- AF speed (obviously a big challenge here)
- SD card rubber flap fix
- Touch screen on the back to choose focus point
- Video AF

What else am I missing? I've been using it for about 10 days and still discovering odd things now and then.

If there really is such a camera as the K-01 ii, we can be assured it won't cost anywhere near what those K-01s were sold off at.

What will all the FF fanatics talk about after the Pentax FF comes out. What will all the FF speculators talk about? Will Pentax FF users finally be able to post in post your photos... or will they continue to post solely in threads devoted to FF enthusiasts, or will they start posting in threads where their work is evaluated not on whether or not it's FF , but on IQ?

So many questions, so few answers.

They will probably want to know when Pentax will release a FF DSLR with 4K video to rival the Canon EOS 1D C or they'll ask why Pentax hasn't delivered 50mm and 85mm f/1.2 lenses to rival those Canon L lenses.

It's always better to complain about that we don't have than to go out and use/appreciate what we've got.
