Just my luck..

Maybe it made the Q to good..
The Japanese version is more explicit:

PENTAX Firmware Update Software for PENTAX Q????????????????????????????PENTAX RICOH IMAGING

ただいまファームウェアVer1.11に不具合が見つかりましたので = we just found a bug in the firmware version 1.11.

一時ダウンロードを中止させていただいております = we will cancel the download for the time being.

Maybe because it was a mistake to make the Q10's firmware available for the Q

You may well be right. The Q10 v1.01 Firmware is described as:
Changes to V1.01

  • Improved contrast AF performance.
  • Improved stability for general performance.

The Q v1.11 is described as:
Changes to V1.11

  • Improved contrast AF performance.
  • Improved stability for general performance.

However, there is no recall on the Q10 v1.01 firmware....hmmm.

Find the bug

So it's like an Easter egg hunt, let's see who can find the bug . I haven't seen anything with my Q other than better low light focusing.

Hehe... Someone is catching an earful if the Q v1.11 was supposed to be:
Changes to V1.11
  • Improved stability for general performance.

I think enough of us have "spare" Q's around that when the firmware makes it back up, it will be tested to determine if the "go go AF" was the bug!

Blackcloudbrew wrote that it reset the shutter count. Shutter count now is only 21, no wonder it feels like a new camera!

Does that mean, in the future, we should be wary of Q's on the marketplace with v1.11 firmware and "very low shutter count?"

(Oh yeah, there's no mechanical shutter in the camera body...)

Interesting thought came to mind - does that mean that for the Q lenses with leaf shutters they, and not the camera, have a shutter life expectancy?

I guess so, although to put it in perspective,
I have an old Super-Ikonta folder
whose leaf shutter is still working
after more than 60 years.

The tiny shutters in the Q lenses
may not be quite as robust as that.
