In Chinese, large numbers are often quoted in multiples of 10,000 (called 'man'), rather than 1,000 as would be the style in Europe and America. I think this is the same in Japanese.

1600 man pixelu[1] = 1600 x 10,000 = 16,000,000 or 16 Mpx, so it's most likely a case of an automatic translation snafu, rather than the Pentax Gigapixel.

We use metric system but screen sizes are still inches. Wierd huh ?
