I'd be more interested what they would replace it with. Other than that, if you were not sure about this lens before, now might be the time to get it. Its cheap and might not be available for long

Perhaps its just that stock is currently depleted and Pentax could not give a firm date (when has that happened) for its anticipated delivery? It's been an excellent seller from what I've read.

No wait, this means they stopped production so they could rebrand it as DFA......./sarc

This definitely means a FF camera will be released on April 17th.........../sarc

Or maybe it means the lens sold well and the production run is gone and we have to wait for time on the line to make a new run. As I understand it the lenses are made in batches or runs and if sales projections are wrong then they go out of stock for a while until production catches up. If so, this is a GOOD THING as sales are exceeding projections............ /serious

Agreed with the general view that it is out of stock rather than production. In any event, I'll still keep it on my most wanted list, along with a complete set of limiteds and another body or two

The first Gulf War was almost 23 years ago. I was 34 years old. I still remember the silence before the storm, and how uncomfortable the silence was.

Just a hunch, but I smell a hint of "Shock and Awe" coming from Ricoh.

I doubt it's being discontinued, but it is odd that the lens is out of stock from nearly every online retailer, Adorama and B&H included.

Maybe they are discontinued from newegg meaning they wont sell that lens anymore because it doesnt sell so good for them?

People usually don't put an item as discontinued even they don't sell it anymore. They just put it out of stock. When they put it as discontinued , the distributor must inform them so.
