FA Limiteds To Be Discontinued?

The latest Pentax Lens Brochure has NO FA limited lenses listed as part of the system.

It seems I was correct when I assumed they were either getting rid of them for redesigned models (or just getting rid of them) when they offered the $250 rebates with the purchase of a K-5II a few months ago. I just bought an FA 31 limited locally for 1/2 price so that might be just what is happening.

No. By the way there is limited listed 35mm macro. I think limited will renamed together with new body, something like "HD blabla"

What do you mean? That lens has always been a limited macro lens.

Page 28 under the chart: FA : AF 35mm film format lenses compatible with digital and 35mm film format SLR (not included in the chart), so I guess there will be other Brochure for FA, or just limiteds ...

They are obviously making a full frame line up. There is no way they will discontinue the fa limited. Look at the da 55 at b&h, it has been back ordered for months now and haven't had any more in. Why? It is a full frame lens and they will start marketing as such. They can't show that before the off announcement. I know this FF deal is worn out, but if it makes sense that all these march/April rumors came up, and then sigma will release their FF 35 1.4 lens at the end of the month. They are going to repackage stuff that is FF. Hence the sale earlier, and why the k5iis has dropped in price from some retailers. The new Pentax is trying to rebrand and take the market by surprise,

I'm surprised the DA 70 is so popular. I had one briefly and it's very nice, but ahead of the DA 40?

Here's to hoping that Pentax have some grand plans for their lens line-up. They are depleting already scarce wide options (DA 14 & 16-45 gone) and have not filled any of the gaps that have been there for years.

I'd be very surprised to see the FA limiteds go, unless they're being replaced with DFA versions. Having said that, if they mess with the optical formulae they risk affecting the pixie dust that so many see.

I got mine over Easter at a Pentax Australia Online Store sale for AU$841 plus $20 shipping. The lens has retailed here for $1695 ( I paid 1650 for my original one) for as long as I've been checking price lists for it. Mine is on back-order so if they've discontinued them I may not receive it.

The lens brochure distributed by Pentax during the "Salon de la Photo" (Paris, November 2012) did not include any FA Limited either. Oddly, A converters (1.4x and 2x, S and L versions) were included.

I suppose the FA lenses are technically not a part of their APS-C system although I cannot understand why they wouldn't advertise them in their material unless they intend dropping or upgrading them.

The FA 50 1.4 wasn't in there either. This wasn't the full brochure either and it had typos. This is not an official or complete release, and I highly doubt they will change the FA limited in optical design. Too much wasted money in R&D to improve on something darn near perfect.

I do think that there is going to be a re-packaging effort that takes place if/when a full frame camera is in the works. Some lenses out there now are full frame compatible already and need to be marked clearly as such. In addition, the FA limiteds have needed a re-boot similar to what the D-FA 100 macro WR got. Stick weather sealing and quick shift on them and re-release them. The only problem is that I would forsee those things commanding another couple hundred dollars on the price tag, so I'll stick with my FA 31 and 77 for now...

What do you guys think will happen to the current FA limited prices if a FF camera and new DFA limited lenses are released ?

Will they go down because of the new (and supposedly better) lenses or go up because of the body ?
