Originally posted by loveisageless I have a 2004 Outback H-6 3.0 (LL Bean). I love the handling, the visibility and the quality finish. I bought mine used at 53,00 miles in 2008 and it has been reliable and without need for major repairs. It has almost 89,000 miles now and could probably make it for another 100,000 with good care. It isn't hybrid, gas mileage is not that great, it doesn't have blue tooth or navigation (that's what iPhones are for), but it gets the job done and doesn't break the bank. Sort of like Pentax...
Subies are great cars. Like Toyotas.
I had a Camry that had 60,000 miles on it when it was "gifted" to me, and just "gifted" it to my stepson at about 300,000 miles. The engine has never been opened up. It got a new timing belt every 60,000 miles, and I replaced a motor mount, the oil filter boss seal and cam cover seal just before I passed it on to him. I replaced the half shafts at about 250,000 miles, the front brake pads twice and the tires twice. I changed the oil and filter every 5,000 miles and serviced the transmission every time I did the timing belt.
It still has the original shocks, exhaust and rear brakes.
If the kid takes care of it like I did it should last at least to a million miles.
I expect the same service from my Legacy.
