I wanted to buy GR, but this camera misses my wallet.
And I'm disappointed in possible death of GXR system.

It's not funny. I'm money giver for Ricoh and Pentax.
You said you don't need any photo tools.

How do you know the GXR is dead? You don't really have inside info, just some fragments which are sent worldwide to dealers and whatever. Was it communicated, or it's just another assumption?

I'm always interested in all new things from Ricoh and Pentax.
Anyway, GR is cool camera. No way. I think it's even a bit better than Coolpix A.

Only one my whining - I have already GXR with 28 mm... and I can't buy new toy. If GR has 35 or 42 mm, I would buy it. And even sell my FA24/2.

As for GXR - I need longer prime than A12 50. But there are no...

Do you understand me?

I understand that GR is the continuation of line of GR cameras from 1996. No problem....But, GR with 28 mm competes with my GXR A12 28....

GXR is dead - I don't know...I guess.
GXR camera and lensors are disappearing in all photo stores. It's hard to find and buy Ricoh's GXR's system parts. No updates for GXR from January, 2012.

By the way, I've heard about 2 new DSLRs - common announcement with GR on April, 17. Or maybe a bit later. But no any serious rumors.
My source says about camera lower than K-30 and between K-30 - K-5II (that's strange...maybe K-30's replacement?).
High-end DSLR will be on September.
Do you know anything?

Could GR work with EVF of GXR?

My friend already played with GR several days ago. Said - very small and very fast.
I even have photos from GR.

While I'm not a fan, the GXR is such an unique line, it would be a pity to kill it.
Like with Pentax, Ricoh's operations were most likely disrupted, and their products re-evaluated, a new strategy made. The silence could be caused by this, and not by killing things off.

9 aperture blades apparently. (edit - I see you've already mentioned that.)

I assume it was set to snap focus at 1m or suchlike for that shot.

It's just a part of whole photo. There are nothing to like or to dislike.
Bokeh is good for 18 mm lens.

Are you professional moaner? It's not promo.

If one camera is between the K30 and the K5II, then maybe it's a K5II replacement. In other words, a camera which will stay in the market even when the K5II phases out, considering that K5II is in essence a 3 years old model, or a stop gap.
Then, if the top APS-C comes in autumn, and K5II phases out, then Pentax will have 4 APS-C DSLRs in the lineup. Twice as many as today.
Which is a 100% improvement already!

It'a a joke? Sorry. I did'nt know you should be the only one:
Same lens, same size, same price...?
It's really disappointing... No any new idea at all.
Such policy could end in this way sooner or later
this camera misses my wallet. And I'm disappointed in possible death of GXR system.

This is actually where the K-01 was positioned as a 'prosumer' model.

So this'll be a K-01 II announcement then.

DONATE IDEA to Pentax Ricoh
- Produce APS-C full weather-proof compact camera w/o AA filter with fast fixed zoom or with fast fixed prime. It will be the best-seller for street and landscape+travel. Small and compact with outstanding IQ. Take new Ricoh GR with 18/2.8 lens and make WR version of such camera. Or develop 18-35/3.5-4.5 compact zoom (28-53 mm equiv) for such camera. Or put 28/1.9 lens. THERE ARE NO ANY PHOTO COMPANY who offers such product.
OGL I agree somewhat with your comments in that a faster lens (even F2) would be more compelling indeed, I also am not so fond of "me too" copycats or at least manufacturers who use OEM parts to produce essentially the same product under a different name.

However the Ricoh GRD series seems t have a slight advantage in their Focus peaking (as you are familiar with GXR) and pre set focus distances for pseudo "focus trap or,Hyperfocal distance shooting.
I suppose if the forthcoming GR has any unique software OS tricks or aids over what the Nikon has it could be a boon for some users.

I am only assuming this will be the case as the past GR series seems to appeal to many street shooters.

However I do agree the mass consumer market will likely not care and shop by brand. In this way the GR looks like just another off brand equal.

Being it is a stand alone product outside of any similarities to Pentax OS I see no reason either camera could be considered by the same customer.

Cheers
Roger
