Ricoh GR - Rumoured 28mm APS-C GRD Successor

According to the Japanese digicame-info.com website, a release of a GR Digital successor is imminent. If the rumour is true, it will simply be called the GR.

- Same 16mp APS-C sensor as the K-5 II
- 28mm (35mm equivalent) F2.8 lens
- No image stabilisation, either in the lens or using the sensor
- AF speed is much faster than the Nikon Coolpix A, but not quite as good as the Fuji X100S
- It's about the same size as the GR1 (film camera) and smaller than the Coolpix A
- Integrated lens cover
- Ergonomics are very similar to the existing GR Digital and it doesn't seem to have any Pentax DNA
- Announced at the end of April, in the shops around the middle or end of May
- Will cost around 100,000 yen (similar to the Coolpix A)

They say it's a new source, but consistent with other things they've heard about the camera.

Here is the article. Feel free to put it through Google if you like.
??????GR?16MP?APS-C???????? - ????info

What's with 28mm fixed lenses? That is not a suitable general purpose focal length, IMO.

The rumour is not hard to believe. Good to see Ricoh releasing a Digital-IV successor, or anything for that matter.

I just fell into the 28mm apsc focal length. It's close to it's diagonal like 43mm on 135 I believe. I love my M28 2.8 on the k30, it rocks. Really like the out of focus!

The "copy" of Coolpix A from Ricoh......Japanese imitation of competition in action?
Same lens, same size, same price...?

I should clarify that. It's the equivalent of 28mm on 35mm film, so it's a distinctly wide angle of view, just like all the GR Digital cameras have been.

Actually, the Coolpix A is a copy of the Ricoh GRD.

Check the facts.

Nothing about the GRD is exciting o paper, but in the hands its another story. Pick up a GRD3 or GRD4 once they're cheap and you will see what I mean.

Facts are that Ricoh GR Digital, GRD II, GRD III and GRD IV all have a 1/1,8" to 1/1;7" sensor whilst Nikon Coolpix A has an APS-C sensor and Ricoh GR is rumoured to also have an APS-C sensor.

You choose to focus on the most insignificant fact - a simple evolution in processor.

But the entire concept of the camera, apart from the sensor, is GRD.

All Ricoh had to do was put a larger sensor into a GRD.

Nikon had to conceptualize and create a whole new type of camera that is like...a GRD.
