I posted this in the comments on the teaser page - it's strange to me that no one knows about this line of cams. This is an evolution of the Ricoh GR Digital series... I've carried a Digital III for about 4 years now and it is one of my favourite cams ever. It goes with me everywhere. The RAW performance is outstanding and the menu and button system is infinitely more customizable than any compact I've ever used.
I love my Pentax cams, but my GR is the cam I use most. I even shelled out $400 Australian to have it repaired in Sydney (got sand in the lens months prior) after carrying to other compacts for a few months... I needed to have it back and have used it since. That was two years ago. It's in my bag right now. This cam will rock, I'm sure.

Search my photostream for "grd3" and you'll see what two generations back of this cam line produce. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chickentender/

It'd be fantastic if priced down to $600.. but it makes perfect sense at $800. Maybe I'll just wait for a sale.

At $600, I'd just get it, instead of a FA*24...

First signs of Pentax influence? GRD IV had PASM modes. Now we have P, Av, Tv, TAv, and M. I'm excited to have TAv mode in a compact. It's my go-to mode for low light shooting.

That dudes voice is kinda creepy.....and the content seems like a bad translation. "Be your eyes.....because the GR will be your new eyes" ??? Not really sure what that means.

Looks like a great camera, but why is it so similar to the coolpix a?

Ah dang, didn't realize it was equivalent 24mm.. 18mm on APS-C is a little wide for walking around for me

I should have bought the 28mm module when it was on sale.

If you look at the history of the Ricoh GR line, including the recent digital GRD series, you'll realize that the Coolpix A is actually a clone of the GR.

Looks great, but to much wide-angle for me.
