Close focus distance for the GR is going to be 10cm. Close focus for the GRD IV is 1cm. According to Ricoh, the area captured at 1cm is 26x19mm. Now as near as makes no odds, this is the same as 1:1 on APS-C.
How will the 10cm distance for an 18mm lens compare? Assuming that everything is proportional (6mm lens at 1cm vs 18mm lens at 10cm), the GR will do something like 1:3. Is that about right?
As an aside, can anyone sufficently knowledgable give me the formula that relates focal length, focusing distance and reproduction ratio?

It's the 28mm + APS-C sensor. 1-cm is about as close as it can get. Same for the Nikon Coolpix A. I think 1:3 is about right. This is NOT a macro camera, but maybe with a 43mm close-up filter (they been make that size?) you could get close.
