The Wasabi chargers are usually pretty darn good value. I bought one of those with several higher capacity batts for the XA10s we use at work and it was a life-saver and faaaar less expensive than the branded versions. Year and a half later and they still charge and run great.

On a related tangent, I was pleased to notice that the NEX-F3 I recently bought (to replace the NEX-5 I gifted to a young relative) is not only a USB charging camera, but Sony [URL="http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/csr/SonyEnvironment/products/lineup/NEX-F3.html"]makes a big deal about the use of 99% recycled plastics ... It's good to see these green things happening with all this [essentially] disposable digital gear.

I don't know how I missed weaving that into my post. Sometimes I am too slow.

Question.

Close focus distance for the GR is going to be 10cm. Close focus for the GRD IV is 1cm. According to Ricoh, the area captured at 1cm is 26x19mm. Now as near as makes no odds, this is the same as 1:1 on APS-C.

How will the 10cm distance for an 18mm lens compare? Assuming that everything is proportional (6mm lens at 1cm vs 18mm lens at 10cm), the GR will do something like 1:3. Is that about right?

As an aside, can anyone sufficently knowledgable give me the formula that relates focal length, focusing distance and reproduction ratio?

Ta.

It's the 28mm + APS-C sensor. 1-cm is about as close as it can get. Same for the Nikon Coolpix A. I think 1:3 is about right. This is NOT a macro camera, but maybe with a 43mm close-up filter (they been make that size?) you could get close.

That was shot at F2.8, ISO 800, 1/40s.

Noise is pretty clean (makes sense, only ISO 800), and very sharp. Also very lovely colours.

Hehe, unfortunately no.

I've not even pre-ordered one, I hope there won't be shortages at launch...

I read on the other forum that the GR can't handle reds, so that picture must be fake

I *really* want this camera, but after yesterday's disastrous effort with my GRD3, (the third in the past couple of weeks, with no GRD success at all) I'm beginning to think I can no longer shoot with an unstabilised camera. Ive been horrified at the level of blur and movement in my shots lately, nothing seems to be working for me except the K-5 and XZ-1. Think I will hold off, indefinitely. Colour me extremely disappointed.

Maybe a switch to decaf can help?
