even 2.8 would be pretty incredible.
I'm sure the designers of the Pentax DA* 16-50 f/2.8 will be flattered.

You can get a smaller (500 grams vs 800 grams) 18-50 f/1.8 lens for about $280 (used)

Just by a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and shoot it on FF!

.
agreed.
If it was a Full frame lens it would have been a possible game changer.

It's a game changer for the APS-C set though right?

Not often a new lens excites me. But an 18-35mm with F/1.8 throughout the range is pretty attractive.

I can't imagine they won't release a KA mount version. Dammit, and the piggy bank was growing for the Pentax k-3

9 stop down blades too. Bokehtastic?

If Sigma did it so should and other companies. Pentax shod drop FF plans and make lens like this or better.

Wow, nice to see something innovative in the lens market. What lens would you pair it with? DA* 50-135? Would you miss the 35-50mm?
I don't think I would mind it as 50mm is a tele anyway and 40mm is an odd FL on APSC. 18-35 is a great normal range.

I'm sorry but while the 1.8 aperture is impressive, it's ridiculously large and absurdly heavy (810g!!) for a 2x moderate wide angle zoom.

Sigma is on a tear lately. Too bad there doesn't appear to be a Pentax/Sony mount--and I don't see OS. A stabilized f/1.8 zoom would be incredible. In other words, we need this on a K mount, Sigma!

MTF at 35 doesn't look all that great toward the edges.. not sure what aperture that measurement is taken at though.

PS: Looking at their guide it says the measurements are taken wide open. In that case all looks great except for astigmatism.

Is f1.8 even possible on zoom lens?
Hm, a lens leak? It can't be weather sealed, then.
