Sigma rumored to announce 135mm f/1.8 DG OS Art lens | Photo Rumors

here's another one.

How nice would this be on the supposed Pentax Full Frame.

Back when the 85mm and the new 35mm were "rumored" a 135mm F/2 was also said to be in development. The 85 and the 35 have both come to production and have proven to be excellent lenses. I expect the 135mm will also become reality.

Ditto Smeggy. Sigma is selling less and less of their lenses in K mount. Tamron has stopped making any new lenses in K mount. It's not a good sign if their sales are too low to justify supporting K mount... :-(

It's a FF lens Jay.

PS: There's also a rumour that later in the year they'll release a 24/1.4 for FF as well.

See that part about OS? Indicates an overlap with Pentax and Sony systems' built in sensor shift, thus implying they're probably targeting Canikon more. Perhaps we'll get lucky, though.

Honestly, if it weren't for the insane build quality and cheap WR options, I'd have hopped to Canikon ages ago. Don't want to, but Pentax seems to be losing strength by the day. Currently awaiting the K-3, to see if it's even worth investing in.

Wow! I hope they release K-mount versions. If only Pentax would get serious about dslr cameras.. with only 2 dslrs, Sigma has to wonder if it is worth it.

Yes, Pentax says nothing at all for very long periods when other manufacturers are chucking out new models by the boat load - it starts to get rather depressing, even if you are actually out shooting and not just reading forums.

I'm still waiting for a 24MP Pentax APS-C just to get a direct comparison to the D7100 because I have to decide where I'm headed for Telephoto 'reach'. Unless I strike it rich I'll never pay 10 grand for a Nikon Telephoto so I am looking for the extra density a 24MP APS-C can offer to get an artificial kick for my 300 + TC1.4x. A cheapskate approach I know but much cheaper and you get SR with Pentax too. Go and see what a AF-S 300mm F2.8 VRII costs and you'll see my point.. then there's the 600mm F4.. forget it!

I'm still holding out, hopeful that Pentax will produce a 135/1.X FA Limited....they need some prime in that range between 77mm and 200mm, IMO.

Why not get the Sigma if it comes in K-mount? Well back in the days, I paid a lot of $$$ for two expensive Sigmas (50-200 APO and 21-35) w/OM mount....and they were nothing but trouble, never gave a good picture...left a bad taste that's not made me want to try again.

On specs, this rumored Sigma sounds nice, though, but...

True, ignoring the noise on internet fora doesn't work anymore. It's depressing to walk around with the best gear Pentax has to offer, but being out-geared by almost every other Photographer that I meet in the field. (Hmmm... Maybe THAT's the appeal of birding: Solitude?)

Sigma on the other hand, as a system, is becomming more and more interesting. I'm seeing very good results of their Foveon sensor on the internet. And they're announcing and issuing very speedy but affordable lenses. Something all other systems lack. Pentax could have done that.
