Pentax Lens Price Hike - Here we go again!

Adorama and Abe's of Maine have just significantly increased the prices on 10 Pentax lenses. I don't know what to make of this, but here's a post explaining the facts:

Are Pentax lens prices going up again? - Pentax News - PentaxForums.com

B&H isn't displaying the new prices (yet?), but what do you guys think about all this?

First the whole DA* series, now these. Good luck, Pentax. I'd already stopped considering buying new from them, with a price hike like that, I'd cease to recommend Pentax to friends.

I hope this isn't some sort of May Day joke.

Just in case there is a chance someone at Ricoh-Pentax reads this:

And their new policy towards special sales is that they will only occur during high holy holidays.

I'd really like a DA 14mm and an FA 43mm, but not at $950 and $750 respectively.

Back to keeping an eye on the used market.

Prices on the used market will follow, why wouldn't they?

I was thinking of a 12-24 as an alternative to the Sigma 10-20, but no longer. It is not worth that kind of price.

Would be nice to get some official commentary on this. Are sales really strong enough to justify these sorts of increases? Doesn't seem to me like that's the case.

Pentax does not have much of a long term strategy, and still remains at the ultra slow release pace on both camera bodies and lenses. Nothing quite as embarrassing as not seeing much more than a rebrand and also one of the rarest selling of any Pentax lens. Pentax really has to come into touch with reality before they are simply knocked out of the race entirely.

Some will find a way to blame the limited release of new items on the reorganizing of the company though.

I'm done with purchasing literally any new Pentax gear at all. I'll focus every camera dollar I have on any company that actually focuses on their customers

Rebates followed by camera price reductions and lens price hikes.

The 35mm f/2.4 and the kit lens are the only two Pentax brands that I own. The rest are Sigmas. Hopefully Tamron will come back to compete with new Pentax price hike.

Adam,
I know you get indirect evidence of lens sales through your affiliate program with Adorama and B&H. We also know that they are the two largest sellers of Pentax gear in the US. It would be nice to know Amazons #s too but with those two let me ask - have you seen a significant increase in sales under MAP?

If by significant increase you mean people are buying nothing but Sigma gear, then yes
