Samyang 16mm f/2.0

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=622394037790690&set=pb.1322930134674...type=3&theater
"New Announcement : Samyang will release wide angle 16mm F2.0 APS-C lenses soon. The 16mm focus length with rectilinear imaging system ensure extra wide angle of view amounting to 83.1 degrees (for Nikon version and 79.5 for Canon). The big aperture opening of F2.0 ensure photographers able to use it for low light environment like night street shooting. The weight of the lens is just about 571g, as a result this lens will be a attractive carry on for architecture and landscape shooting. Please share with your friends."

Surprising as they already have the 14/2.8. It should be a lot smaller though.

That's sure no 15Ltd is it? Twice as fast of course, though I don't think that way at 16mm, and 570g isn't compatible with my bag.
I shall stick with my Sigma 15/2.8 fisheye, but nice to see someone adding to the list of options.

Neat! The Samyang lenses are nicer than I'd thought they'd be. The downside is no auto-aperture... they're on par with the M lenses rather than the A.

I'm considering the 14mm, 24mm, and 85, myself.

It's an F/2 rather than a F/2.8, so I'm guessing it's about the same size. It is surprising. I would've guessed the next prime would've been longer than their 85, or a macro, or both...

Two stops difference is four times as fast.

I would only be interested in this lens if I had some particular need. I don't have any need the DA 15 doesn't satisfy. I've used it handheld in dim churches with no trouble. Usually with a short prime, I'm looking for more DOF, not less.

All K-mount Samyang lenses have auto aperture ("A" setting on the aperture ring).

There usually is with Pentax mount SamYang's. Eg my 85mm SamYang/Rokinon has an A setting and auto-aperture...

Other mounts often miss out on the auto-aperture but it is usually there in Pentax mount SamYangs, I understand.

EDIT - oops, someone beat me to this point. You have to be quick around here.

When I get my PK-NEX speed booster adapter my 24mm F1.4 PK mount Rokinon (Samyang) full frame lens will work like a 16mm F1.0 APS-C lens on my NEX cameras .

It sounds like a good alternative to the Samyang 14mm lol - not as awkwardly wide, slightly faster and smaller. And allows use of filters. Hopefully the focusing ring and distance scales will be accurate. It will probably be good for street, architecture and astrophotography

'A' they are but 'F' they are not, sigh. I have the 14 and the 85.

A is auto-aperture, do you mean autofocus?
