I agree, their complete APS-C line up consists of this sensor alone.
Pentax needs to market a 3D video camera, with double APS-C 16 mp sony sensors and double K-mounts. That will help them get rid of their excess stock of those sensors maybe. And will have a positive impact on their lens sales. LOL!
That was intended as a joke, but I'm afraid I would buy it too.
Alternatively, they could use 4 of those APS-C 16mp Sony sensors in the 645DII. Four of those will have a surface area of 1479mm˛, a tiny bit larger then the sensor that they used in the original 645D. (1452mm˛) Using some dedicated hardware to stitch the four images together instantly after each shot.
