I agree. Frankly, I don't see any of the recent Nikon/Canon upgrades as having been revolutionary either. Even the D7000 to D7100 was more evolutionary in nature, rather than a huge improvement. If you owned a D7000, would you really feel driven to buy a D7100? In addition, this is a K30 update and any brand new, top of the line features that Pentax is working on will not be released with it anyway, they would be released with flagship APS-C or 645D II.
ONLY BIG AND STRONG companies could allow themself to make such cameras.
NOT SO WEAK AND SMALL PLAYER like Ricoh Pentax.

So small companies should go "Leica" way with much lower prices.

K-5, K-01, K-30, K-5II, K-5IIs, K-50, GR - the same 16 MP sensor.

To say honest - K-01 is really brave move. I applaud. Sad that no K-02.

Whats most important, this IS the year Pentax releases the full frame. Right? Have all the rumors been false? IT CANT BE!
Some people invent crap and then complain when it doesn't happen. I haven't heard anyone from Pentax say we should expect FF this year.

I see more sense in K-02 with WR body with 2 control wheels and EVF with new compact WR pancake with DC motor. For example, 28/2.5.

Are there positive things in the works? Please enlighten us about those then.

Wait. Are my eyes FF or APS?

I'll just stand back a step. Makes all the difference.

Or equivalence.

I don't know. I feel like the K20 was basically an "incremental" improvement from the K10 and the K7 was just an incremental improvement over the K20.

The only two cameras from Pentax recently, that I feel were particularly revolutionary over preceding cameras were the K10 and the K5. Even companies like Olympus do this sort of thing.

The biggest problem that I see is that until the flagship camera is released (September?), I don't see enough separation between the K50 and K5 II.

Exactly this. Looks very cool, but why would anyone upgrade from a K-5, K-5II, or K-30? Or if someone wouldn't want the K-5, K-30, why would they want the K-50? Its too similar. If only the sensor were a little bigger. In size or MP. Or some other outstanding feature.

Exactly... Even a fully dedicated monochrome version of that same 16mp Sony sensor would be differentiating enough to make it interesting.

You're not looking at this right. If you already have a K-5 or K-30, you're fine! Congratulations! You already have a great camera. This camera is not and upgrade. It's not for you.

It's for people who still have a K200D or K-x.

It's for people who are just entering the DSLR market. Hence the term, "entry-level."

It's for people who are considering Canon, but can be persuaded to buy Pentax because of nice features like weather-sealing in a camera that kind of looks like a Canon.

Consider it a K-30 for the conservative-styling crowd. There's a market for that, and now there's a Pentax for that.

I like the angled design of the shutter button and the front dial, it's more 'direct' for your finger... For the thumb area at the back, it would be better if it has a rubber grip on it...

It's for people who are new to Pentax and want thisyear's model, not last year's model.

Then they could have simply renamed the K-30. The cheapest way to produce a new camera every year is to rename the previous year's camera.
