July 5th: US Pentaxians would be white with anger if we were able to play with it on July 4th .

K-500 and K-50 are supposed to be available in July 2013, at least in civilised countries .
The nearest Pentax dealer here in the UK is advertising stock of both the K-50 and K-500 on 20 June, i.e. Thursday.

Focus Peaking lets the camera operator know what exactly they are focusing on. Very useful feature that I wish my Kr had :-(. Oh it's used when in LV mode.
in what circumstances do you use It? I often work with manual focussing and have no problem with focussing. Am I missing something or is It available on my K5 without me knowing?

Nope, it's not avaialble on the K5.

I have a K-01 with it, and how it works is that you get a silvery glow around what is in focus while using live view (sadly the only mode avaialble on the K-01).

I don't understand what you need the focus peeking for when you use manual lenses.
I'm not sure I understand for what purpose one would use Focus Peaking with an AF lens. Then again, I only have three AF lenses so maybe I don't have enough experience.

To use it in conjunction with QuickShift to visualise how the focus plane moves?

Ignorant question because I have never handled a K-30, but is focus peaking available when the camera is in AF mode?
That would be bananas

Forgive my earlier sarcasm, but isn't QuickShift manually focusing an autofocus lens? So isn't that precisely how one would use Focus Peaking with a manual focus lens?

In a way Focus Peaking is DoF preview without the darkened viewfinder.

Its a pity, that they didn't keep the K-30 design. I really liked that one.
