So a photo equipment shop had it listed as "delivery expected soon" so I asked what delivery date from Sigma they have and told me end of the week.

Heres a problem. My Nikon 135mm f2.0 DC is supposed to be in next week... my OMD EM5 kit still hasn't sold...and if the Sigma K mount shows up I'm in big trouble! anyone got the winning lotto numbers? but if I held my breath for that Sigma I would probably be reincarnated before it comes out.

That's too bad, for the right price I'll give your FA 77 a new home.

I asked them and this is their answer:
QuoteQuote:

Hello mister X, the lens arrives according to the delivery date this week. I hope that we get all the lenses we ordered, because there are already some preorders. It would be best if you would as well preorder this lens, then it's reservered for you when it arrives. -Best wishes from Düsseldorf

I keep hearing about this "hope" business, but it seems to just lead to lots of disappointment...

But while we're all still hoping, I hope my Sigma 100-300mm f4 sells before the 18-35mm is released!

Well, Sigma'd better make a modern 100-300/4

How sketchy. Did they want to charge you/collect the full amount from you now too?

At least in the US, most reputable businesses would wait until they ship before charging on pre-orders or back orders.

It does seem like it would be a great time to resurrect this legendary lens, given the rise in popularity of FF and the numerous new FF models over the last couple years. But a re-release would have to have stabilization to be competitive, and that would result in a larger, heavier lens. And stabilization would also require tinkering with the optical formula, which could backfire.

I asked that too and the answer was that in case of Credit card, Paypal and "Sofortüberweisung" yes, with advance payment no. In case of advance payment you would get a notification email as soon as they have the item in stock then you pay.

Doesn't Sigma released their 120-300 F2.8 Lately? I think that is their modern 100-300.

A year? or so ago they intro'd the new 120-300. They've had older versions since forever.

The 120-300mm f/2.8 is more than twice the weight and twice the MSRP of the 100-300 f4, so they would not really be in the same class.
