I think that other lens makers could also learn something from Sigma's willingness to stand behind their lenses for 3 - 4 years, instead of just 1 year, and to provide quick service when your lens does need work.
Definitely agree although Nikon gives you 5 years warranty (I've heard complaints about their customer service though, hopefully I don't have to find out) and Tamron gives you 5+ I think???

It's pretty astonishing to think you could spend over a thousand dollars on a lens (from multiple brand names) only to have it fail 1 year later and you're on your own

There are some interesting comments following the original Polish version of this test on "optyczne".
Several posters now thinking about changing from Canon to Pentax
because of the possibility of using this lens on a K5IIs.

I've nearly ordered this lens about a dozen times in the last two days. I *will* get one. Just as soon as I can afford it without selling a kidney.

Today Polish site optyczne published detailed review of the lens.
Given how they usually tear apart rather decent lenses -- checkout an FA LTD review by them sometime -- this lens must come from another planet.

I've never seen them that enthusiastic.

Well, if that Lenstip review is anything to go by, this is the best zoom lens in its focal range, and beats many primes as well, even at f/1.8.

Shame about the flare, though. Sure, Sigma lenses have never really been great at handling flare, but I had hoped that they would revamp their coatings for the Art line. Or maybe the 15 limited has just spoiled me.

I nominate this for understatement of the decade!

This lens could be my walk around/landscape/museum/indoor party lens
Question is, what do I sell to fund this

After my college days, I don't think they will be much use to anyone

Kidney may look obvious, but it isn't a good idea really.
A better choice is a part of your liver, because it should restore itself anyway.

Of course, after his college days, his liver is probably of no use to anyone either

I've been asking myself this same question the last few days as I looked around my house for stuff I don't need. I just sold a couple of my old White Lightning strobes, so I've got $225 so far, and I just listed a like-new Lowepro backpack ($70).

I'm now eyeing my white Olympus XZ-1 (~$200), my Sigma 10-20mm (~$350), Yongnuo YN-560 II flash ($60), a .380 subcompact pistol (~$300), and a vintage IBM PS/1 486SX computer ($200 - $300) as toys I might be able to live without...at least temporarily.
