Probably the F50 1.7 cause that is the only one I currently own. I have used a Nikon 200 2.0 and other than the weight and the price it is a great lens

For me it will be the next lens I plan on buying, the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8!

By the time this lens is released for K mount, the supposed FF body might be shown... next to bigfoot who is found riding a unicorn. hehe

I guess this would fit the bill. Or the Sigma 30mm f1.4 Art. Or perhaps a rejigged FA 31mm f1.8 that I suspect is coming soon. Decisions decisions.

A question to everyone: if you could have just ONE fast lens (f<2), what would it be?

24-70 f/2.8?

ummmm, if I had managed to sell my 50 f1.7 i'd actually have NO lenses faster than f2.8.

for my landscape work I could care less about any aperture bigger than f8 and for my action/animal shoots I can't afford anything faster. besides, I have a sigma 100-300 f4. who needs anything else, right edgar?

oh, whoops, my bad you SOLD YOURS!!!!!! bad edgar!!!

oh, and speaking of signatures.... you MUST remove that lens from your signature, immediately!

Probably the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 but in terms of personal experience I can only vouch for the Sigma 28/1.8 EX MACRO.

It is a normal lens on APS-C and is capable of focusing very closely. It is not really a "macro" in the "1:1" magnification sense, but one gets mighty close to subjects. This makes it very versatile and it has very nice bokeh on top of this as well.

It is not a small lens and the FA 31/1.8 is more beautiful to behold and has even better bokeh, but it isn't as versatile as the Sigma.

I BOUGHT A SIGMA 100-300MM F4 FOR SONY MOUNT!

So technically my signature is still accurate. Now I just need to find a good deal on a Sony a580 body to go with my lens. It has the same 16MP Sony sensor as the K-5 etc, and shake reduction in the body, so it should make a nice second body for me.

I am on a better program; if I need long or fast lenses I go with Nikon - 200 2.0/300 2.8/400 2.8/ fast wides and short teles . My program is I just ask if I can borrow them and maybe a camera and then return when finished and free

The only lens on my list to get for all of my formats is the 15DA. At the other end of the spectrum some of my "lenses" are f212/ f321/ f512 and come from the major camera manufactures such as Ovaltine, IAMS cat food or assorted biscuit makers

Yeah. I loved my 100-300mm, but I didn't like having $1200 tied up in a lens I might use two or three times a year. As I was selling my 100-300mm, I came across somebody selling a Sony version for much, much less.

So I will be able to have this lens and a Sony body for less than what I sold my K-mount version of the lens for. And I've kind of wanted a second DSLR anyway, so it will work out nice for me. So I've been watching for a good deal on an a580, but I may put it off for a bit since I'd like to buy the 18-35mm as soon as its available.

Probably not in 2014!!!!!!

I was at Professional Imaging in The Netherlands and talked to a rep from Sigma (Benelux).
  1. 18-35 production is selling like cupcakes to Canon/Nikon.
  2. So Pentax will only come when sales on those Canikon's is going to slow down.
  3. So, don't expect it soon, maybe even not this year.
  4. The 120-300mm is not even mentioned anymore in K-mount.
