So is your story. It proves nothing as for the other thousands of 18-35 sold (or not, which is your point) by Sigma.
Neither is conclusive though one comes from an official rep.

Seems logical. If I were Sigma, I'd do the same (as a user I strongly disagree of course).

Yes, you are correct ElJamoquio.

Ouch
If that's the case I will bend and withdraw any previous comment.

I don't think anybody considers f2.8-4 fast in its own right, and certainly not compared to f1.8.
The Pentax 20-40 and the Sigma 18-35 both have their merits, each with its own apeal, but I really don't see them as competitors. To me it's a bit like a Corvette vs a Jeep Wrangler. Both have their place, there is a large overlap in their suitability for how they would be used most often, but hardly interchangeable.
I take it the Sigma is the Jeep because it is so much larger?

Sigma = 811g
Pentax = 283g

personally I think one of the reasons why Sigma is releasing this lens is it complements video DSLR work very well. It's something of a monster sizewise.

I got a bit of a follow up from Gentec regarding the 18-35... (edited to remove personal info):

And FYI, it is the third e-mail I got from them, I inquired in Feb, March and end of March. Each time I got a "should be in "next" month" kinda answer.

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in regards to Sigma products.

Unfortunately the shipping situation and communication on the new Sigma 18-35mm Pentax lens has not been as clear as we would like and this has resulted in several changes to the arrival date.
As of this week Sigma has advised that the initial shipping dates will commence in May. This is the best information we have at this time and it is by no means a guarantee.

I understand that you are eager to receive your new lens however if you require it for April I can advise it will not arrive.

Although I cannot supply you with a more concrete answer at this time I hope this helps.

Best regards,
David Bursach

That's what Sigma told me as well, but another interesting thing is that they also say the same for the USB dock, which will be very interesting to have.

Blah, this whole situation stinks: waiting nearly a year for the lens, then the price increases (in Canada, at least), rep(s) running their mouths about 2015, all the while we're on the "just one more month" carrot and treadmill.

Hmmm, well, for me the cup is half full here, the good news is that those things *are* coming for Pentax.

Not to spill your cup, but as I recall, the 120-300mm was supposed to 'eventually' come but never did. Of course I don't recall Sigma ever answering emails on the subject, though, so it might've just been a hope based on Sigma's website...

I have no idea about the 120-300 but I emailed Sigma specifically about the USB Dock and the 18-35 and they responded that they are expecting early May as shipping date for both, so this is not just off a website. But only time will tell. Personally, I chose the 30mm F1.4 so at this point it is only the dock I'm hoping to get.

The 120-300mm was never announced for K mount.

The 18-35mm was officially announced for K mount by Sigma in a press release and listed on all their websites.

No worries, a simple misunderstanding.

My pet Nikon-mount 18-35 sold today, funny how that happens the day after I go blabbing about it on this forum.

To put things in perspective the Sigma weigths only 100g (not noticable) less than a set of the Pentax HD 15 Limited, 20-40 Limited, and the HD 55-300; a setup that covers almost everything anyone could want focal lenght wise...
