One thing I'll never forgive Pentax is using pentamiror in K200D. Hope they put pentaprism in K300D.
I have DS and K100Ds and even thou at first it seems like there is a little difference, once you have some practice with both you begin to appreciate pentaprism a lot.
When the K100D first came out I had major lust for it. That was until I tried one out. For me there was a marked difference in the brightness between the K100D and the DS. Especially in a moderately lit store. I prefer to manual focus whenever possible and the dimmer VF of the K100D was a real deal breaker for me. I waited until I could afford the K10D.

NaCl(for me it was a big difference)H2O

AF-C is very fast and accurate. In low-light is not bad too. Not worse than Nikon or Canon.
Faster than AF-S. My FA43 and 77 had back-focus at ist DS.
At K200D is all right. AF is like K10D, but more accurate.
Low-light AF is 2-3 times better than DS, not miracle, but good for me.
Hunting a bit in very low light in AF-S, but better in AF-C.
With Ansmann 2850 NiMh is a bit worse in speed. AA lithium rules.
The shutter button is better than K10D's - not too soft. And not too hard like at ist DS.

White balance FINE tuning is like in K10D. The same function.
It really works, for not quick shoot or for studio is very usefull.
But I shoot RAW in 99%.

hello ogl :-)

can help me?

in k200d there is noise reduction for high iso ("high iso noise reduction")

about "high iso noise reduction" function (you can select: off, weakest, weak, strong): this function is for raw or jpeg or together? and it is good?

Looking at what my needs really are I'll stay with my K100D and look for a K10 in the future. Or by the time I can get the K10 the K200 may be in the same ball park. But for now I will be satisfied with what I got.

There is no information in manual if it's only for jpeg or for RAW.
I think it's for all formats.
I shooted test photos in jpeg and RAW at ISO1000-1600 with WEAKEST and I think that results are good, sharp and with good details and resolution.

K200D DS ISO800 - - - iXBT

not test, but comparision. jpeg from PEF.
noise reduction in Silky Pix - all to ZERO.
f2.8, ISO800, 1/100, autoWB, the same point of shoot.
I don't see that DS is better in noise. DS has FF with 35 lim.
