It's their company. Pentax is just a product line now. I just wonder when the "Pentax" logo is removed and the "Ricoh" logo goes on the front of the bodies. I guess its like boiling a frog....

I actually wondered why they even put Pentax in the name in the first place, this is way more logical from Ricoh's perspective.

I don't think they would bother doing that. The Pentax brand still has a lot of currency world-wide. Plus I think somewhere a while ago they said the Pentax brand would stay on their DSLR's, and maybe existing Pentax lines, but Ricoh would pretty much go on everything else. Although that still hasn't happened - eg the MX-1.

Of course, watch such a camera be called the "K-GR" or the "GR-K" and be mirrorless...

Sony was/is a huge name in consumer electronics. Ricoh certainly is not.

And people still don't know what a Sony camera is, just like they don't know what a Sony movie (Columbia Pictures) is..

If they remove the Pentax brand name from the camera's I won't be supporting them in the future. I been happy as a proud Pentax owner these past 7 years and If I can't display that name anymore I'll just keep what I have till it dies and retire from shooting.

Nope, Ricoh is a huge name in business machines and a long-running maker of photographic products (since 1936).

I have been using Pentax for 20 years, and will also retire from shooting if the name is removed.
