perfect, i like the form and outline of the k7/k5 and the continuous use of the grip. Jist put a FF sensor in and i'm quit happy

Well, a bit of extra space for another SD card slot would be nice.
I am very happy with the K5 format, but wouldn't object to a camera that can write DNG to 1 card and JPG to a 2nd card.

I don't think that the salespeople sent to local stores have any solid information to report. The "new cameras soon" is plausible but that can be applied to most camera manufacturers. Salespeople get paid to be positive and exciting.
Are you freaking serious? This is precisely the time of year when representatives have the MOST information about coming models - this is the Holiday preview / order period, right now.

This is the period when a Sales Rep presents and gets a signature on Co-Op advertising contracts for the Holiday Sales period; when a Sales Rep arranges in-store seminars by the 90+ Trained Contract Demonstrators Pentax USA has hired for this Holiday Season; and the time when a Sales Rep contracts for special Hoilday Merchandising Floor Displays (yes, they are CONTRACTED) that tie in with whatever Holiday Marketing Theme RIAC has arranged.

So might a salesman who goes around from store to store know if something new / good is coming? He or she darned well better know EVERYTHING, because the store owner has no incentive to let Pentax back in the door on smoke and a kiss this time,.

Thank God I switched to D800. I don't have to get so much excited any more... Nevertheless, I still have K-01 which I consider one of the most underestimated cameras in the world. Together with old K/M series it works wonders ;-)

I wish they could make the new body slightly more lightweight - I love the sturdy feel of the heavy K-5 body, but I like to carry my camera every day and would be happy to carry 100 grams less...
So what would someone with big hands do, buy one for each hand? I am getting tired of this trend towards smaller dslrs. If I want something small I'll buy a CSC thanks. The K5 is as small as it should get and to make it lighter we would have to consider leaving off the weather sealing. That would truly suck.

This is pretty obvious by now. ..
I may be somewhat slow-witted, because it certainly wasn't that obvious to me. I wouldn't have posted if I thought it was old news

I don't think the weather sealing adds much weight...

I have very big hands myself, but I'm actually more happy with the K-5 than the K10D - the grip is simply better.

I might add, I used the term 'retailer' in case my post got the nice person in trouble, but it was higher up the food chain than your average street corner camera shop.

The company in question actually goes under the working title of 'Pentax Australia'...now notorious for their blog post slip earlier in the year

Now the 'new guy' at CRK will get in trouble for blabbing.
Although as others have said, blind freddy could see that new stuff was on the way.

That was my concern, actually.

But, as you say, he didn't tell me that much (the Pentax China guy actually said a lot more when he mentioned a professional APS-C and a Full Frame that was different), so I'm sure he won't lose his job over it!

Me too...

However...depending if this phantom of a camera that is the FF k mount ever shows up...and it works nicely with my FA's...I may sell my D800 kit...
