Ricoh is very much into small and spartan with ergonomics as priority... So I agree that the k-5ii sucxessor will be about the same size, maybe lighter.
K-5iii -- a slightly more rounded version of the K-5ii with upgraded internals.

That will be out of my price range.. but maybe will look at a K-5ii once the K-5iii is out and well about.

Isn't it entirely expected that we'd get new cameras by Christmas?

We've been expecting new flagship cameras and not getting any for ages. No wonder many of us cheat with other brands.

How often do you expect them to come? I don't really think it's realistic to expect them to come more than every 18 month or so.
(It's now 12 month since last flagship came).

Last flagship camera was 2010. (K-5) You don't seriously expect us to count the minor updates of the same camera that followed afterwards, do you?

Except of a few exceptions, there are usually small changes made going from one generation to next.
For some users there would be a bigger improvement on IQ going from K5 - K5 IIs, than going from K7 - K5.

There's users with AF problem on K5, which K7 didn't have, and K5 II(s) is certainty a major update on AF compared to K5.

But I think the AF problems on K5 has been discussed to death already.

What does an 'n' model represent?

The MZ-5 and SF-1 AF and the P3/P30 MF film bodies had minor evolutionary upgrades with the n suffix appended. I don't think it really meant anything (perhaps to suggest 'new').

i dont get it ... in this low light situations where the autofocus has problems the k7 produces noise all over the place ...

I think users will gain more by getting images in focus (by going K5 - K5 II) than to get noisy images replaced by OOF images (by going K7 - K5). On K5 you might have to stop down the lens so much in low light to get acceptable focus, that the noise advantage over K7 is gone.
