I've been saying that for years. But what I want to know is where are the moderators? A thread that should have been closed after the first page has gone on for 11 pages and has become about FF.

There is still discussion on the OP's topic from time to time. But the entire thread shouldn't ever have been opened in the first place.

It is a good question. Much of these should be locked after the first or second page.

I suppose these threads keep popping up since most people here are more into the socialization in the forums than the actual hobby itself. That and, since there is no news, news is invented and thus something is made to be discussed... instead of picking up the camera or starting the PP software and actually doing something.

We'd rather doom and gloom about the company or squeal about needing that newer technology.. as if the technology is central to making you a successful photographer. No, (hard) work plays a big part in what makes you a successful photographer... like anything seemingly of value in this world.. if you care to become one.

As much as Pentax is here to stay, without FF, many of its customers may not be.

That's called relevance.

I resemble that remark. I'm celebrating day 2 with my new D600

I hate you but also advise you to hire a Sherpa.

I had a D700 for part of a year and the darn thing strained my back, neck, and vehicle suspension.

The only FF I would get now would be the Sony RX-1:

A Sony RX1 Review | The Golden Sieve

It's not as big and heavy as you might think. It's about 225g lighter than a D700. I've barely put it down in two days and I'm not interviewing sherpas yet. Heck, I haven't even gotten around to installing the strap.

I think it's now safe to say that Pentax will be along any day now with their FF counterpart since I invested in an alternative.

Wouldn't it be funny if Pentax does exactly that? They built the K-01 as a prototype and released it to the world so the world can ID bugs they missed. It gives them a chance to review the durability, design, concept, etc.

Once that's all smoothed out then they add a FF sensor with a new processing engine... Viola! Mirrorless FF.

who knows... It's early morning and I'm still waking up so I'm a bit delirious.

Well, IIRC, someone known to us, and a Forum member, and in a position to speak with some little authority, did in fact say regarding K-01 future production, "The planned production run was completed." Said speaker did not in fact ever say the K-01 was discontinued. So we should not be surprised by the Smurf Edition, nor by any other iteration of the Brick that emerges in the future.

P.S. - I love mine.

I'd go with a script. Every time "full frame" or "FF" is typed and posted it should be replaced with "unicorn"
